AX73 new firmware testers sought

I am making a new version of the AX73/VX90 firmware with CC support and sysex patch save/load. No other features are being added. I need a few people with these synths who are willing to take them apart and change the EPROM, then test the new firmware to flush out any bugs. I understand that most pe...

Re: Akai AX-60 Custom Firmware (Akai AX60)

Hello, For the past few weeks I have been studying the AX-60 V1.2 firmware and schematics to see if some sort of firmware update was possible. Unfortunately, there are only 52 bytes free in the EPROM, and the address decode for the EPROM is only 8K byte (2764). The 8K just above the EPROM is used fo...

Re: Korg Poly-61 advice? (keyboard? or?)

The black wire was fastened to the bracket that supports the front panel, in the center of the keybed. The cardboard and metal shield under the keybed is to prevent interference between the keybed signals and the voice board underneath it. The metal part should be connected to the metal frame of the...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

Hi, Rasputin and I have put in quite a few hours in the last week or so on the AX80 firmware project. At this time we have new versions of all three AKAI EPROMs. Revs I, K, and L. Our code is the same in all three. The Akai code is the same as was in the original EPROMs. We have incorporated a sligh...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

Hello, I have just read all of your posts on this thread, so I am sort of caught-up. I agree that some sort of patch editor with sysex send and receive would be great. I am guessing that if CC support were added, someone would program something in CTRL, right? I read that you are getting tired of th...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

Hope I didn't step on any toes here. Probably better if you don't send me anything. Sounds like you did a great thing, adding sysex patch save and restore. How did you decide on the format of the header? Did you find out the Akai ID for sysex? I wasn't sure if I should use that, or just make up some...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

I forgot one thing. The Rev L and Rev K EPROMs are identical except for 4 bytes. In four places, the CV values were adjusted slightly to account for the difference in the CEM chip. I don't have Rev I, so can't say anything about that one. Bob

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

Hi, I looked at this thread about a week ago, and didn't realize that there were multiple pages of posts. Oops! Anyway, I have been working for the last week on reverse-engineering the AX80 firmware, with the idea of adding some features. I ran the rev K code through the disassembler DASMX, then sta...
