Shipping Boxes for Keyboards

HI all... I just wanted to ask if there is a good resource to find shipping boxes online for those "larger" synths where it next to impossible unless you have the original box to find something to ship it in. Does anyone know of a good resource for finding something in the way of "sturdy" shipping b...

Re: UK to US Power Converters for Akai S01 Sampler

Don't feed it the wrong voltage, that could damage something inside the Akai. I use a Goldsource voltage converter for my MicroWave. It steps up and steps down a variety of voltages: 110/117/120V AC to 220/230/240V AC and vice versa. Goldsource ST500 I have two of these, one for the studio and one ...

UK to US Power Converters for Akai S01 Sampler

Hi all... Just purchased an Akai S01 Sampler from the UK. It's in excellent shape but I believe I'll need a power converter. The UK uses a 220-240/50hz while the US uses a standard (for us) 120/60hz (at least according to my other S01 Sampler) I own. My question... Since this is something I never ha...

Re: Akai MPC Renaissance

Just another thought.... One thing the renaissance could do was sample internally where as the MPC Studio could only sample through my Mac.

Re: Akai MPC Renaissance

I had the MPC Studio... It was nice I thought. But again just a controller. There was a bigger price difference between the MPC Studio controller and the renaissance though. I had a lot of fun with it. The major difference between the two was a few extra knobs and buttons to tweak making it smoother...

Re: Akai MPX8

I had the Akai MPX16 for a VERY short amount of time. It was more trouble than it was worth. The Korg Sampler is probably a better solution if you are looking to trigger samples or even the Beatstep or BeatStep Pro. But I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish. There are a bunch of pad...

Re: Akai S2000

Never mind the formatting of the disks... It's amazing what you can learn from reading the .pdf manual. But I do have a question about about making system disks and some other things with floppies and Macs. I would like to be able to make a boot disk and keep backup copies of my samples I cre...

That's a good point. I'll give it a test run and find out if it's the keys.

Re: Roland Super JX-10

If they're random I'd bet you money it's just dirty contacts; if you can get in and pop the rubber strips for a good cleaning, it'll probably clear right up. (It's usually not tough to replace them, you just have to remember to go very gently when removing them so you don't tear the "posts" that ho...

Re: Roland Super JX-10

No unfortunately the keys aren't in any order... they are random and also I noticed this morning one of the keys (the highest "D" note) is broken completely (not in half or cracked just no spring to it). I'm a bit nervous about opening it up. I've been trying to figure how. It has a "wood/plywood" t...

Roland Super JX-10

Hi... I own a Roland Super JX-10 76-key Keyboard which has been in storage for quite sometime. I took it out (big, heavy analog board). However, to my surprise it started right up and sound magnificent at least until I took I noticed 7 white keys no longer produced sound. Never ran into an issue wit...

Re: Foreigner 4 - "Urgent" sound - Help!

I think he's talking about the portamento chord that comes in at the chorus. Sounds like filtered square waves to me. Also, Michael Fonfara is credited for "keyboard textures" on that song, although TD is credited for "Main Synthesizers" on the whole album. Yeah... It's a great sound that builds an...

Re: Korg M3R & RE1 Connector Cable

I finally found out in case anyone runs into needing a cable to connect the Korg M3R to the RE1 Remote Editor. It is a male to male 8 din connector. Also, it is NOT the smaller mini din connectors they have more widely available now. Just wanted to clear up this post... And maybe feed some more info...

Re: Best Way to transfer to and from SysEx data?

I use the SyEex Librarian. Yes.... Thank You! I remembered SysEx Librarian when I was on the Dave Smith Instrument's sight looking up some info on my Mopho (Which is for sale on eBay - sniff sniff). But I found a link on his/their site which told me about it and I downloaded it. Quite easy to use. ...
