Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

I guess that's why GJ said 2.0 ;) But yeah, not going to happen  Some elaboration: Instead of just a simple SRAM(-ish) chip behind some voltage level translators which the card is now, I would have to add a microcontroller with USB support, arbitration/multiplexing between the micro and the sy...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Well, there is another use case for emulating PCM cards (btw, I checked and the D70/U series cards are the same size as the ram cards) as it can also be used to create your own pcm cards with custom sounds as well. Yes, you can also get a sampler (I have two) but sometimes I like doing things just b...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Hey all, just a quick update! I dropped the boards and parts at the assembler last Friday. They have quite a backlog right now so the cards won't be finished before end of June, but that's okay because I'm going to be out of the country until then anyway ;) I'll have to go through testing all those...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

The next step is to send the card parts to the assembler. We can be rather sure that the first batch of cards will be ready sometime this year (I won't give any exact dates because I don't know when this will happen). We have reached close to 120 sign-ups on the sign-up form now, so we might very w...

We're getting close to 3 years now. Any estimate for a ordering/shipping date yet?

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Submit your contact data here to be informed about the card release! Yes, submit and tell your friends, because guess who just ordered twenty panels of six cards each! The circuit boards will take about a month to manufacture and ship; in the meantime I can prepare card assembly over here...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

2. (aimed towards DoJoe) As I own equipment which either takes M256E (D70) or M512E (A-90) cards, would it be possible to create the switch mechanism in such a way to either emulate multiple M256E or multiple M512E cards? Cheers and hope you all enjoy these holidays with your loved ones. GJ. please...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

This thread is long enough as it is, and I'd like it to stay on topic of the M-256 clone cards. Yes. :) noted. I see now .... I have a habit derailing threads, however unintentionally. I hope here will be even more people with knowledge, time and willing to help and share research, like You. :) Hi,...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Any release date of the final product yet? I had to take a pretty long hiatus due to the day job being super demanding lately, but that's just in the process of petering down again and I started getting the layout ready for the production run. Unfortunately, that means I'm certainly going to miss m...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Any release date of the final product yet? I currently also have a Roland A-90 available for testing (uses M-512 memory cards).

Cheers,
GJ.

Re: Call for beta testers

So. All RevC cards are built and tested now. I hope I'll never have to solder one of these by hand again  I have a few cards (two or three depending on tester responses) that I haven't assigned to anyone yet, so if you'd like to get your hands on a coveted prototype for less than the final se...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Hi,

Any update on this? Not trying to push (got myself an M256E card to get around) but I'd love to have this to get away from the 64 patch limit on my D70 without having to resend the patches each time I want to switch.

Kind regards,
GJ.

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Hi Joachim,

Just to throw an idea at you: What about a (mini) crowdfunding approach? Raise the money for a 25 or 50 piece pre-production run, funders get first delivery and the understanding things may not work 100% (semi-beta).
You'd have less risk and more progress.

Kind regards,
GJ.
