Re: The JX-10 – an underrated synth

I agree its pretty under rated , I have the rack version MKS-70 and its one of my all time favorite synths. It pairs very nicely with my Prophet Rev2. I use iPG800 to control it on my iPad I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Re: What is the stupidest accident you've had with you gear?

fried the SCSI circuit on the motherboard, amazingly the rest of the synth still worked. Most likely you blew a fuse and if you replace it, the SCSI port will come back to life. Also: holy resurrection batman! I wish it was that simple, It actually fried some of the SMD components and ruined some o...

Re: What is the stupidest accident you've had with you gear?

Stupidest thing i ever did was in a rush i mistakenly grabbed a LPT port Zip drive thinking it was my 25 pin Scsi version and plugged it into the Scsi port on my Kurzweil K2500X and fried the SCSI circuit on the motherboard, amazingly the rest of the synth still worked.

Re: Question about midi interfaces.

I was able to work around the problem of integrating my controller with midi over USB into the rest of my midi setup by using http://www.midiox.com/ to route the data from my controller to my Steinberg UR22 audio / midi interface and from there everything is routed and merged in my JL Cooper MSB 8x8...

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...

I'd love to see Yamaha do a AN1X version 2 with the ability to load sampled waveforms to use as a third OSC and a knob per function layout :)

Re: Full circle. Interested what your choices would be.

Hmmm...interesting. Are we talking with cost being no object? In my case, I have only two keyboard synths anyway, a Yamaha SY77 and a Korg DSS-1. I'd probably stick with them. They're both really good synths and they compliment each other pretty well. If cost is no object I might trade in one of th...

Full circle. Interested what your choices would be.

Back in 1993 i bought my first real synth a Kurzweil 2000. I had drooled over it for a few months at our local music store and finally after the sales guy got tired of me playing with his floor demo i pulled the trigger on it. That began a synth addiction that over the next 23 years brought 80 + syn...

Re: What is the worst thing that you have ever done to a syn

Plugged a parallel port ZIP drive into the SCSi port of my Kurzweil K2500 thinking it was a 25 pin scsi zip drive, smelled smoke when i turned it on and the LCD went wacky . Rest of the synth worked but the scsi capability was gone for good.
