Re: How to play 808 Chromatically from Analog synth

Please tell me you aren't that person who everyone was telling not to get the DRM1 and use something with already sample based drum kits in it and then you decided you wanted the DRM1 bad enough because it was all analog and got one anyway, to now only be wondering how to sample and play it chromat...

How to play 808 Chromatically from Analog synth

Hi guys, I just got the Vermona DRM1 analog drum machine. I wanted to make my own 808 style bass drums from the machine and be able to play simple bassline melodies with the samples I create. Before I jump into it , could anybody tell me the "proper" way to achieve this effectively? My idea was to s...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

If you want exactly the sound your synth gives you, use line in. To be honest there's so many things you can do the the sound on the synth itself, Inthjnk it would be best to play around with all of those first, to see if it gives you what you want, before playing around with colour boxes (or whate...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

I use line 1 and 2 for the Prophet '08..would you say I got in the back? does it even matter? holy s**t thats exactly what ive been doing. Never knew the mic inputs are bad for Analog synths. If thats what you're getting at? That´s it, inputs 1 and 2 aren ´t line inputs. I´m not saying mic inputs a...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

If you really wanna splash some cash for color on synths, have a look at (ordered by price) Germanium diode overdrive pedals (e.g. MXR 104), the Warm Audio TB12, Overstayer stuff (M-A-S and NT-02A especially), Thermionic Culture stuff. But there's tons of options out there. What other gear do you h...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

Looks like the OP was trying to run the synth and drum machine through the UR44´s mic inputs instead of the line inputs on the back, hence the bad sound so far and the idea a higher end mic preamp will cure it. Apologies if I´m wrong. holy s**t thats exactly what ive been doing. Never knew the mic ...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

A preamp is a device used to get a low level signal such as a mic, phono or instrument signal amplified up to line level so it can interface with line level devices like audio interfaces etc. the Prophet 08 outputs a line level signal already, therefore it doesn't need a preamp. The levels of cluel...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

He's probably just overdriving it to get some kind of character out of it. :? I mean I know you can use preamps as subtle character devices, but really using one on a synth is next to pointless unless you have money to burn. a preamp is pointless? explain that if you can. Cuz that sounds pret...

Re: High end preamp ideal for P8?

Things that effect the character of the music you're recording: The person playing it . . . The instrument . . . The effects you run through . . . The audio interface . . The preamp Have you sorted out all the things in that list that come before a preamp? If so then think about getting a preamp fo...

High end preamp ideal for P8?

Could anybody give me any advice on a really nice high end preamp that would give the P8 alot of character when recording into daw? I plan to use the DSI prophet '08 and Vermona Analog Drum machine as my two main synths for those two synths in particular what would be a good choice for a preamp max ...

Re: How to tune to 432hz on P8 module?

Stab Frenzy wrote:Easiest way would be to get your DAW which is tuned to 432Hz, play a note in that, then play a note on the P08 and turn down the pitch until they're in tune. Should take about 15 seconds tops.
Thanks guys. That helps!
