Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 as MIDI controller

Thanks for the reply. Great, I just need it to be able to play the notes and the pitch/mod wheel.

Ensoniq ESQ-1 as MIDI controller

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the ESQ-1. Would it make a good MIDI controller?

I've played it before and liked it, the keys feel great. I just wasn't into MIDI back then.

Basically, I need a controller for my 'home studio' for running various VSTs (Rhodes, Tron, etc)

Thanks!

Re: Buying a monosynth

Thanks for the suggestions so far! I need to try those, so far I only played a vintage MS-10 but didn't really like it.

Buying a monosynth

I used to own a Moog Prodigy and later a nice '77 Model D. I had to sell them both but I'm now looking to pick up another monosynth, vintage I guess but not really sure. The model D was really nice but too much of a synth for me, especially considering the price. I tried the Behringer and it comes k...

Re: Roland Jupiter 4

I'm not looking for any specific sound but I do want a reliable vintage polysynth. So, is a JP-4 any better in this regard? I'm particularly worried about special/obsolete ICs.

Re: Roland Jupiter 4

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, the Polysix is cool but I had so much trouble with it. And now when it's finally serviced and 'working' some random keys start to play without pressing the key. Then I have to take it apart, clean the key contacts and it's good for a couple days. If I had no issues with ...

Roland Jupiter 4

I want to get a JP-4. There's no way I could test one where I live but what I've heard convinced me to get one. I have a Polysix, which is kinda cool, but I'll probably sell it to buy the JP-4. The main thing that worries me is reliability and I also wonder if there are any obsolete parts inside? Al...

Re: Midi module

Thanks for the replies! Nobody mentioned E-MU Vintage Keys, no fans here? There's a JV-1080 available locally but I imagine it will be difficult to obtain the expansion cards. The budget would be around 200€, therefore I don't expect world class sounds, but I thought the E-MU sounded decent enough f...

Midi module

I hope this is the right place to post my question, otherwise please move it. I'm looking for a midi module with 'good' piano, e-piano and mellotron sounds. I'm not too familiar with this stuff, so any comment would be helpful. I looked at the E-MU Vintage Keys, which seems ok, but I was wondering i...

Re: Sampler module?

Thanks for your reply! I'm not looking for the best sampler out there, but a decent unit with good, usable sound.

I'm buying this mainly to expand the sounds I get from my keyboards without actually getting an additional keyboad and I'm mostly interested in wurly/rhodes and mellotron sounds.

Sampler module?

I recently got the Ensoniq ESQ-1 which I like a lot and it's my only board with midi (others are all pre-midi). I think a sampler module would be a great addition and wouldn't take up much space. Sooo, where to start? I'm mostly looking for 'realistic' E-piano and Tron sounds. If there's anything li...

DIY MS-20 filter

I hope this is the right forum for my question.

I'd like to build a MS-20 filter but the info out there is a bit confusing to me. I'm sure many of you have built one - but which schematic did you use and what do or don't you like about it?

Thanks!

Re: Model D, P6, TR-626 - together?

So the Korg SQ-1 can be connected directly to the Minimoog, no other device necessary? The Moog is all original from 1977, no MIDI.

Re: Model D, P6, TR-626 - together?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Hehe, to me it's not that bad and I really didn't care for the stuff I traded for it. I think it's ok as a first drum machine, but I'll upgrade if necessary.

So what other gear would I need to do what I described in the first post? Especially regarding the Moog.
