Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

The Italian film composer/arranger/keyboardist/organist Carlo Maria Cordio played the synths and keys on the horror-scores to "Eaten Alive" (1980) and "Cannibal Ferox" (1981), both of which were composed by Roberto Donati. A lot of the music from the first film was reused in Ferox. The synths and k...

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Trying to figure out what was used on the Jonathan Elias score for VAMP (1986)

From my ears.
Emulator
Linn Drum

Sounds like an analog synth is doing the pads mostly...possible Jupiter-8 or Prophet-5?

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Dave Lawson used the following setup on the Runaway Train soundtrack: Prophet 5 rev 2, Yamaha DX-5, Synclavier II (mono sampling), Emulator II and a Linn 9000. The other synthesist Brian Gascoigne probably used a Fairlight but I'm not sure what else, although in this studio photo from 1985 you can ...

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Any idea what synths were used on Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer? It sounds like it may have been either a Fairlight or Emulator and possibly a DX7. Also what were all the synths used on the Runaway Train soundtrack? From reading this thread I've deduced Prophet 5 Yamaha DX7 Synclavier ii and po...

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

You wouldn't happen to know what gear was used on the Tangerine Dream scores The Park Is Mine and Near Dark do you? It sounds like a lot more digital oriented stuff like PPG and DX7s

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Any idea what synths were used on those Italian cannibal films like Cannibal Holocaust or Cannibal Ferox...I am assuming either a Moog or ARP of some kind.

Trying to get Emulator 2 samples into my Microsampler

I just acquired a Korg Micosampler and I'm interested in putting the original Emulator 2 samples into it. I have the Korg Wave Editor where I can take Wav files and sample them into the keyboard. The Micosampler can loop phrases and also map samples across the keyboard so you can play it on the key ...

Re: It's all DX-7...

The drum machine is heard more clearly in this track, mixed with real timpani played by Rob himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rih_XC8iqZo&feature=relmfu I know this is old...but I'm dying to know what synth was used for Revenge Of The Ninja. It says on the vinyl it was computer controlled...S...

Re: Hans Zimmer's score to Days of Thunder setup?

Zimmer has owned pretty much everything you could think of as fas as synths are concerned, so it's hard to tell what specific synths made it onto that score. Anyways, I know that he was very into the Fairlight CMI III at the time so I'd say there's a fair chance it was part of the setup. Here's a l...

Brass articulation for Kurzweil 2600xs?

I have a Kurzweill 2600XS and a Korg Kronos and what I've found is there isn't a company out there that has decent brass articulation samples. I know East West and other VSTs have flutter tongue, clusters etc but no actual ones built into a synth. I'm reading my Kurzweil manual and V.A.S.T. and I'm ...

CMI Fairlight vs NED Synclavier

I've always been curious about a Fairlight vs Synclavier shootout. The Fairlight seems to have been used more often but the Synclavier was used as well by quite a bit of people. Wondering what the differences are and how they really compare to each other?

Re: Roland System 500 vs Moog Mother 32 (x3)

The Roland System 500 sounds great....but it has no sequencer while 3 Mother 32s would have 3 different sequencers with 3 individual voices. With the Roland System 500 you will have to find a separate sequencer...which I'm not sure why in all the videos promoting the thing they were showing the old ...

Re: Korg MS-20 mini vs. Moog Mother 32

I'd put it this way. With a Moog Mother 32, it's going to have a single voice and one type of sequence happening at a single time. That's fine...but after about 30 minutes it gets really redundant and uninspired. Like I said, it's a great synth...if you want to have multiple ones going at the same t...
