I saw that a lot of yamaha CR2032 are 210 mAh, mine is 235 mah... that? Can I check if a chip is getting power from the battery?
The 235 versus 210 doesn't matter. Use a voltimeter to check that the battery is outputting proper voltage. Triple check your battery polarity.

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD mainboard troubleshooting

Sorry 4 years later asking a question about the Ensoniq VFX SD mainboard. My problem is in the DAC TDA 1541A. You have a VFX SD with a TDA 1541? Are you sure it's not really an SD-1? As far as I remember, the SD-1 does not supply unregulated voltage directly to the 7915 to derive the -15V rail, but...

Re: Akai MPC60: Upgrade or Replace?

Other than using floppies, the MPC60 does most of what I need. What aspect of using floppies bothers you? I am asking because a floppy emulator will not help you that much, other than eliminate the need for a physical diskette. Assuming you upgrade to a floppy emulator, the capacity of each disk wi...

Re: Replacing a floppy in an EPS rackmount

I have heard on these boards to get a GoTek floppy emulator. I was wondering how one transfers the instrument and song files from old floppies onto the GoTek. I got an external floppy drive today because I was hoping to recover some song files from a corrupted disk when I discovered the floppy driv...

Just on a hunch, I would check all the diodes in the keybed, particularly the ones pertaining to your semi-non-working keys.

Re: LCD display replacement (Roland MKS-50)

Does anyone have any info on how and which replacement display works? Some cheap 16x1 LCD with LED backlight such as, https://www.crystalfontz.com/product/cfah1601btmiet-16x1-lcd-character-display?fbclid=IwAR0QgnFXcHIOzNfaiDf5sCWXg4MIqoe2lwJ4lBlvcXT7AkIMAKsFcN7COMs or a 16x1 OLED, but this requires...

Re: Yamaha RX11 Repair Thread

I've got an RX11 that's started doing some weird stuff on the LED/LCD screen. Showing some JAPANESE characters, then just squares. It seems likely to be corrupt data being sent to the display because of a poor solder joint or header connection. The display is being initialized incorrectly or not at...

Re: Yamaha RX11 Repair Thread

What's the reason the sound chips is impossible to replace with Eproms? Is it because of the ROM-chips themselves (pinout, electrical characteristics etc) or is it that the format of the ROM images is unknown and never reversed engineered? Numerous reasons: Custom ICs, can't easily be read, no writ...

Okay, I'm finally done. Here's the entire Yamaha TX16W service manual booklet and the ridiculously gigantic schematics poster which was nearly impossible to scan. Given the rarity and amount of scanning hours spent, I should have put this on eBay to make a boatload of money  https://mega.nz/fil...

Re: Akai S612 Sound Library Archive Project.

As an aside, I would also like to see an effort made to archive the S900/S950 libraries. These libraries are also poorly archived, with only a handful of disk images having made their way online. It would be great if we could fully archive those sampler's libraries as well. Dig deep into this one.....

Re: Six Trak firmware update - why buyng an EPROM?

You can't flash an EPROM more than once. You can reflash an EE PROM. Eh... I suppose that's somewhat the gist of it, but it is a bit pedantic and potentially misleading to state it like that in the context of the original post, especially when you also stated you *can* flash an EPROM, but only once...

Re: Six Trak firmware update - why buyng an EPROM?

I got hold of the Version 14 (and also 11) in BIN images formats... Has anyone got instructions of how to flash these firmware files directly on the existing EPROM? Apparently the only way to upgrade is buying the EPROM... That can be done, but you need both an EPROM programmer and an EPROM eraser ...
