Re: Sequential Circuits Six-Trak MIDI OUT not talking

Rasputin, that is excellently written. This thread should be a sticky on old school serial interface trouble shooting. I second the sticky. Rasputin provided some very useful information ultimately leading to a repaired synthesizer. I found absolutely no results for troubleshooting MIDI output hard...

Re: Sequential Circuits Six-Trak MIDI OUT not talking

Looks like I owe you a beer Rasputin! Thank you for your help and education. That, to me, is far more useful than taking this thing in to get serviced. I sincerely appreciate you. The logic probe came in, and honestly, I think I ordered a faulty one because everything I was measuring was showing me ...

Re: Dedicated Juno 106 Sequencer?

The MMT-8 is boss, but I've heard problems about it... Just came to this thread to tout the Alesis MMT-8. They are super cheap for what you get, and really easy to figure out. I found mine for $50 and regret buying two. There's tons of support for fixing these things, too. Most of the problems you'...

Re: Sequential Circuits Six-Trak MIDI OUT not talking

In theory, when MIDI is idle (no note events, etc.) the MIDI out pin 4 and 5 should present the exact same voltage. So I'd check to make sure that's the case. My MIDI OUT pin 4 is registering at 3.9V due to 150ohm resistor ahead of the jack. MIDI OUT pin 5 is giving me 1.4V whether or not I trigger...

Re: Sequential Circuits Six-Trak MIDI OUT not talking

Thank you for such a detailed response! If I get this thing working, I will definitely buy you a beer. I am beyond thankful for your help. So far I've tested continuity and everything seems to be in order between MIDI OUT the 7408 and the UART. 7408 pin 6 is connected with pin 5 MIDI out and pin 6 o...

Re: Yamaha DX-7

LMGTFY is sometimes the most helpful thing in certain cases, this being one of them. I will argue though that some questions may seem a little obvious and basic now, but this very message board may hold up as the source of many searches in the future. As domains expire and sources become few, you ma...

Re: Korg M1 No Sound problem

Any thoughts what might be wrong as the price is very tempting. What is the price if you don't mind my asking? You should be able to track one down that is tested and running in the $400-$500 range perhaps less if you're patient. CMOS battery replacement is one of those upkeep things you've gotta d...

Re: Korg M1 No Sound problem

Before you fire up the soldering iron, check this first: I've found myself in many a bind freaking out over why my synth isn't making any sound and found that I left the LOCAL setting OFF. Check the M1's Global settings and make sure LOCAL is set to ON. It could be that simple.

According to this ad, the MSRP for a DX7 was $1995 in the USA in 1983.

Sequential Circuits Six-Trak MIDI OUT not talking

Hi there! I've got a Sequential Circuits Six-Trak with a MIDI out that isn't sending anything. I'm receiving MIDI data just fine. Just the MIDI OUT. I've checked all the normal software configurations without any luck. Other synths are sending MIDI data with my same software configuration so I know ...

WTB:USA:SY77(SY99)Right End-cheek

My Yamaha SY77 was damaged in transit and so now need a replacement end-cheek for the right side. For search and reference purposes it'd be the Yamaha part: VH809200. An end cheek used for an SY99 will also suffice. If you or someone you know has a spare end-cheek or has an SY77/99 who doesn't like ...
