Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2017

I really admire it. Keep going. I actually would recommend this series as a monthly article for the front page article section. :)

Re: How old is "Vintage"?

... I can tell you that in 36 years in the industry I was never once told to not include a feature so it could be offered in a future product instead. ... I assume You talk about the synthesizer industry? In this case yes it can be quite peaceful. (becouse in the electronic industry about cell phon...

Re: How old is "Vintage"?

XV3080 -- 2 line display, again Why they do that this way again?! (some other downsized models also) XV5080 -- big graphic display, again, extra bank, now with 4 SRX, and sample player. Well, by looking this way they just made XV3080 with a 2 line display to give a reason to buy XV5080 later. As fa...

Re: How old is "Vintage"?

When it comes to JV1080 then sometimes the old synth is just a old synthesizer model, but not vintage, as they are just deliberately downsized model of the other models in a queue before launching "newer and better" models. Could be. Could equally be that the JV1080 was the start of a new platform ...

It depends if it has some details from unobtainium besides the factory proprietary chips.

Re: How old is "Vintage"?

Vintage = Analog Non-Vintage = Digital Emulator? Synclavier? Fairlight? I'd say those are pretty vintage. I wouldn't want to just divide between vintage and non-vintage using the particular method of sound creation. THere are also words like RETRO and classical. Prophet 5 is vintage. Prophet 6 is R...

Re: Thought about synthesizers channel multiplexing

It was Roland JD990.. The AB comparison was that first was NEW and second was old, if it was NEW-OLD....xxx.WAV file. THe old one has more background noise, yes. Every second was the OLD DAC with its own filterEQ. It is not only rumor, it is the fact that it has its some strange filterEQ at the end....

Re: Korg Wavestation EX vs. DX7

So, I have a chance to pick up one of these synths locally. Both are approximately the same price (within about $50 of each other). I've listened to a ton of sound samples of the EX and DX, and still can't decide which I like more. $50 for a keyboard? Well I would consider both in this case. Thats ...

Re: How old is "Vintage"?

Hahaa.... :D The good one. Just my idea... Lets say...by manufacturer -- There are "new" and currently "in production" synths, then there are "supported" instruments, but also "discontinued" products, and "no longer supported" products. Still, if it takes just a 10 years to reach to this point it do...
