Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
I've used both software and hardware and i'm telling you that the software version is just another sound. It's not worth it. The hardware always sounds more musical, real and luxurious! Well then, it's a good thing I still have the hardware... though the software version comes with a lot of sounds ...

Re: WSRAM files
You can't get data *out* of the plugin, especially as in some cases, the plugin has extra features over the hardware (like a proper resonant filter). However, the majority of patches available for it are available in SYX form which you can us in the hardware, and should be easily available to find ...

WSRAM files
Hi all, I purchased the Korg Legacy Wavestation Synth plug-in. But the WSRAM format that it imports/exports is new to me. Is this just a the Patch, Performances, and Wavesequence SYX data concatenated into one file? Are there WSRAM to SYX conversion utilities? Or can I simply rename the extension fr...

Back on topic : I purchased the Korg Legacy Wavestation soon after this thread started and am quite happy with it. But the WSRAM format that it exports is new to me. Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
Look, I started this thread. Mainly I asked about the sound differences, but also asked about some performance indicators. So your initial comments about software vs. hardware were fair enough. Then you kept going, deriding the idea of software synths, modern operating systems, evil computer company...

I'm really hoping that they come out with an 01R plug that has "blown capacitor" emulation.ItsMeOnly wrote: 01R/W: dreaded caps, very common for these - haven't got time to desolder and replace.

Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
The limit on Win98SE is 2GB, but good luck actually accessing anywhere near that much after the system is up and running.jxalex wrote:And how I should test that, would be tricky? Not my program.PS: how much memory can your DAW on your Win98 machine access?

Well, it's clear where your biases lie and I am not trying to talk you out of them. If you're happy with what you have and it works for you, then play on. Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
Just a word about "corporate greed" in respect to software upgrades as opposed to hardware. All of those beloved hardware companies, Korg, Roland, Yamaha, Clavia, [insert the rest here] all upgrade their hardware product line-ups on a regular basis. It's not greed, it is profits for them so they can...

Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
Desmond said everything I might have said, only much better. I only have this to add, for people reading this that are considering the Legacy software package: I never said it was "so much better" than the hardware. I have the hardware and will not part with it anytime soon. I believe the consensus ...

Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
Edit: why would it not happen with the Legacy synth? I see laptops on stage quite a bit these days. Because CPUs have grown a thousand times smarter (more powerful) since then. Okay, we might have some crossed meanings here. We know what 'legacy' means in general, but Korg is calling the software s...

Re: Wavestation Hardware vs. Wavestation Software Synths
The Synth/TS PCM cardset is my favourite single WS bank around - well worth the three hours of queueing in the Turnkey sale to pick it up for £15 back in the day... ;) I'll bet. I went ahead and got the WS Legacy synth with those performances/waveforms, which are awesome enough I that checked eBay ...
