Around €60, working... in 1997 (we didn't have euros then but what I paid amounts to that).

Bloke who sold it to me found it in the bin.

Yamaha's "RAM" card for the DX7 is also an EEPROM, not a battery-backed RAM.

I'm not looking for any specific sound but I do want a reliable vintage polysynth. So, is a JP-4 any better in this regard? I'm particularly worried about special/obsolete ICs. Those are present in many, many classic vintage synths. We're seeing now a number of direct and/or partial clones of those...

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, the Polysix is cool but I had so much trouble with it. And now when it's finally serviced and 'working' some random keys start to play without pressing the key. Then I have to take it apart, clean the key contacts and it's good for a couple days. If I had no issues with...

I have tried both - owned a lovely Polysix for many years and a friend had a Jupiter 4 (which he ended up selling since the tuning was a bit wonky). Despite both being 1-osc + chorus/effects, they are rather different sounding nonetheless. Both beautiful, but their sonic characters aren't directly c...
