How to recover factory sounds in my ESQ-1?

I think a bad cart corrupted something as my factory internal sounds have been over written with a bank of sounds from a different cart. I have the 3.5 chips installed. I did a soft reset (held record button then pressed left top soft button) but they didn't install. Tried again, same result. Power ...

Re: Can sound cartridges go bad?

I purchased one of the re-writable carts from the bay guy and inquired (with not having a case) of static discharge damage. He said he's never heard of anyone having a problem in that regard, but said he can't deny static discharge could damage a chip. Otherwise his carts are great IMHO. Can the cas...

Can sound cartridges go bad?

I'm thinking it's the ESQ-1 flaking out. I plugged in a Voice 1 cartridge which recently worked fine. This time I noticed some of the sound titles were funky, and the title of the first sound on cart A was blank. Tried it and no sound. When I selected the second sound, the title erased except for th...

Re: "Cherry Picking" internal programs on an Ensoniq ESQ-1

Groy- you da man =D> I feel like an idiot about now. I mistook the section "Write a Program" as creating a new or modifying program and skipped right over it. You saved me from spending money I really don't have. MidiQuest looks great, but I'll have to wait until I have "disposable" money. Being ret...

Re: "Cherry Picking" internal programs on an Ensoniq ESQ-1

I would like to have the internal 40 patches to be a compilation of selections from 7 different prerecorded cartridges I have. I don't know if this is possible with midi-ox, which is in my price range- free :D I may have to spring for midiquest Essentials. It's tough not knowing what I'm doing, but ...

Re: "Cherry Picking" internal programs on an Ensoniq ESQ-1

Thanks for the responses! Checked into MidiQuest, will certainly do the job quite nicely. Only downside is their cheapest solution is $150 US. I'm not sure what can be done with midi-ox. Groy; according to page 78 of the esq1 manual, you have to transfer entire banks. It does mention singles can be ...

"Cherry Picking" internal programs on an Ensoniq ESQ-1

I am trying to lean an esq1 I've recently purchased. If I'm understanding the manual under "Saving and Storage of Programs", internal programs can't singly be over-written (replaced) from a cartridge source (or saved to cartridge). It seems the exporting options are Bank A, Bank B, or both banks. Si...

Ensoniq ESQ1 mod wheel panel question

On a recently purchased esq1, the top lid was not closed tightly on the left bottom side. The screw was missing. Upon further inspection, I found that the bottom screw tab it would mate with (molded into the side of the mod wheel panel) was broken off. I also noticed the two screws on the right hand...

Re: ESQ-1 AA battery mod- best AA battery to use?

Thanks! Exactly the kind of insight I was looking for. I use St. Patrick's Day to oil my B3 and Leslie's, so I'll put a little shamrock on the Synth too! It is a sealed battery holder located far enough from the PCB, but $hit happens.

ESQ-1 AA battery mod- best AA battery to use?

I'm going to do the AA battery mod on this Ensoniq replacing the soldered CR2023. I was thinking of going with the Eveready Ultimate Lithium which is advertised as a long lasting, and for the most part, non-leaking battery. The DIY youtube videos are somewhat dated (from what I have seen) and batter...
