Re: Crumar Performer -- Strange Behavior

Update: I've managed to narrow things down significantly, but desperate for some help. Per the schematic, Pin 16 of the TDA1008s should connect to ground. After many hours of troubleshooting, I was able to find that Pin 16 of the chip that controls the B notes (the only notes that have been working)...

Crumar Performer -- Strange Behavior

Hi all, Trying to diagnose some strange behavior with a Crumar Performer. Short history: I bought it in a non-working state, but after replacing power supply caps, a heavy cleaning, and touching up any suspicious solder joints, everything worked fine for a brief, wonderful time. Months later, I turn...

Re: Crumar Performer- ripe for all kinds of mods

It totally works! I'll be posting some details including pictures and schematics of the mod tonight! Mattew96, just wanted to say thanks for this great idea and all the detailed pics and instructions. I just finished bringing one of these back to life, and this mod is my next project, really excite...

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Mooger5, funny you mention it, that's exactly what I did. I created little standoffs so that the rest of the board can't move when the lid closes. Seems to be holding up so far.

Thanks again for the thought and help. And Jhatzia, wishing you luck!

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Cool, I hope it works out. One other thing I wanted to share with you that I found interesting. Again, it's specific to the mod, but might be the same with any of the ICs. The little mini-board for the mod plugs into the IC38 socket ... and what kept happening was that I'd pull it out, re-seat it, e...

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Got it! I finally found a legible manual for the Angel City mod, and it's got a big warning about cracking solder joints by pushing the mini board in the wrong way, so I figured I'd just take it out and check the connections. They were all fine, and I reinstalled the board (it plugs right into the I...

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Well, today I removed all connections from the main board so I could take it out and inspect everything closely. I cleaned everything up, brushed and vacuumed out any dust (there were some little fuzz balls hiding around some of the IC legs that I thought could've been causing trouble). There was on...

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Yes, huge thanks Mooger5! Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. No amount of time seems to make any difference for me, either. Though it's interesting that the piece you quoted is similar in some ways to what we're experiencing. JHatzia, did this issue also start for you directly after a battery repla...

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

This is probably a really dumb question, but I have to ask:

When my battery is connected, my meter shows continuity between the positive and negative terminals. When the battery is taken out of the holder, there is no continuity.

Is this normal?

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Mooger5, thanks so much for the suggestion. Unfortunately I just gave it a shot, and no luck. FWIW, mine is in the same state as in JHatzia's video, except not getting the flickering etc with joystick movement. Occasionally when I try to power up with buttons 5 and 8 held, I'll get some different LE...

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

Powered mine back on tonight and now I'm getting no LEDs at all, except the speed light. :/

No change when moving joystick, pressing any button, or moving any fader.

Anyone have any ideas what I might try to test?

Thanks again.

Weird, thought I subscribed to thread but didn't get any notification. Anyway, just saw this. Will test this evening when home and see if it's the same for me.

Re: Korg DW8000 not working, please help.

I'm having the same issue as described in this thread (only arp speed light on, with occasional/non-sensical flickering of other LEDs), so I'm monitoring with great interest! Unfortunately, although I'm good with an iron as long as I'm following simple instructions, I have no engineering background ...
