Re: Roland D-110 problem
I tried to emulate the issue on mine and the only way I could get that message from the system screen was by also holding the patch key down (simulating a stuck button). I know you already stated they work but you can go into patch as normal using the button right ? Failing that I would suggest perh...

Re: Roland Juno-1 failure. Magic smoke
My first step would be to go looking for blown capacitors around the PSU too. I dont know my way around the inside of a Juno-1 but wanted to post a picture of what a blown/vented capacitor looks like, they will either be completely obvious or have the tops vented as per this pic :- https://i.postimg...

Re: Best software synths right now?
I have been getting into TALs free elek7ro VST synth recently, its deceptively powerful and routable and of course free.

I would say zero attack, sustain and release , short decay and the resonance about half way up or more.

Re: Your latest musical purchase
Wow, glued battery tab, thats a new one to me !
I once had an output jack that had the wire twisted around and held in place using a massive chunk of blutak once, I guess some people are allergic to solder perhaps.

Re: Yamaha MU50 Battery Replacement
Not sure if this will be of any help but I have upped the service manual and schematic for the mu80 for you here :- https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/temp/ I couldn't find the procedure in there, as you mentioned this also says to leave it to qualified personnel but it does give you a list of 'don...

Re: Akai S5000-Worth Trying to Fix?
Personally I think its always worth having a go at saving stuff, you have nothing to lose but your time so if you have the time give it a go. Usual rules apply though, make sure its been off and unplugged for half hour before you go rooting around inside. The description of the sound makes me think ...

Re: Casio rz1 can play my volca fm...?
I assume they are connected through midi ? Almost any midi device can play almost any other. I use my volca beats (with midi out mod) to play my akai rhythm wolf or Boss DR-550. I mix them two together for beefier sounds. By default normally drums are set to midi channel 10. Not always and they can ...

Re: I can't reproduce this sound !!
TAL Noisemaker is a free VST synth where you can send envelope to pitch. It's probably the best synth out there for learning synthesis. Works on Mac, and even on Pro Tools. Nice, not seen that before what a nicely laid out synth. I use the TAL bassline for sh101 style stuff but obviously it has no ...

Re: Connecting Korg Volca Bass with iPad- IOS apps
I cant help with the mac stuff but the volca bass headphone works well as a line out, he is correct about using a a stereo > 2xmono cable. You then just plug in ONE of the mono ends to your input. The volcas are slightly quirky like this and a stereo cable is not the way to go even into a stereo inp...

Re: I can't reproduce this sound !!
I am happy to help, I love trying to explain stuff :) One way to go would be sample a sound and apply an fx, or you could just sample the sound itself directly from the record but it sounds like you want to understand it a bit more than just sample it. Am I right in thinking you want to learn this s...

Re: I can't reproduce this sound !!
Oops, no, sorry that is a VSTi, an instrument that emulates a basic analogue synth not an effect, I fed nothing into it
Yep, I am windows running reaper as my DAW, there must be some that work in both that also have a pitch env.

Re: I can't reproduce this sound !!
Ah its just forum politics y'know, the man keeping the little guy down  Nah, just kidding I havent been posting long. Its just an example to show you how to play around and get it closer, in reality I suspect they used a drum machine as pitch envelopes are more common because toms need them, as...

Re: I can't reproduce this sound !!
Ok, a pitch envelope is not that common so I googled for a free VST one just so I could show you. Its very rough but all I did was create a pitch envelope that roughly matches (high mod/amt, very short but non zero attack, shortish decay with no sustain or release), mucking around with a filter will...

Re: I can't reproduce this sound !!
Could easily be a drum machine too, its technically very similar to a bass drum or tom only higher pitch mod and higher pitch. The key to that is you need a pitch envelope.
What are you using to try to reproduce it ?
