Re: Korg M1 patches

Ok sounds easy enough, how would I know I found the one patch sound I want on the computer (I use BomeSendsx) when I load the soundbanks to dump to the M1 it looks like a long row of random letters and numbers spaced out (like "b2 01 d5" etc...) or alternatively should I play the sound I like and se...

Korg M1 patches

Hi everyone, noob here still learning how to use my M1. I was wondering if it’s possible to swap out patches one by one? For example if I have the factory program/combi sounds loaded and I found one sound I like in an .sys file I have on my computer can I remove one sound and add in another or can i...

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Well I’m happy to say that way worked! All buttons function as they should, I know it’s not the proper fix but it works for me. I soldered the jumper wire to the exact points in your illustration, thank you so much for your input Rasputin & mooger I don’t think I would have found this info anywhere ...

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

If I recall it was CN5A, but regaurdless it still didn't function properly, and the A-B-C-D buttons still did not work. Should I try a jumper from the third pin of CN4B to IC25 pin 13 (like in the photo drawing below) or do those diodes need to be in the trace?

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Ok im going to work on it again tomorrow or over the weekend. I had a chance to fiddle with it again for a bit today and i jumped a wire from CN4B pin 3, to the third wire of connector CN5A on the mainboard and (strangely) the up/down buttons started working but would scroll through the settings out...

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Sorry it has taken so long to respond I haven't had time to do a teardown of the Korg again to get photos. However I was also wondering, if possible that there is some way to directly "Bypass" things with some wires to check if those buttons will work the way they're supposed to? Side note - not sur...

Hi everyone, I have a Korg M1, still learning how to use. I have figured out how to load .sysex and .midi patches via midi interface wire using Bome SendSyx on my PC. question is, I discovered a sound I really like in a audio file (mp3) i wanna know if its possible to get that sound, convert it and ...

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Yes I can get photos. I also noticed a few resistors along the way in the traces for those buttons? can those play any part in the problem too?

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Conclusions - If you've replaced IC25 then a stuck column pin is (now) unlikely. But we could test with a 'scope or logic probe and eliminate any element of doubt. - If there is continuity from IC25 pin 13 all the way to the switches in question then the Y2 line (and any connectors in between) must...

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Ok guys one last try here before I give up. I just replaced the 74hc138 (ic25) chip, same buttons are still dead. I got a continuity reading from the buttons through the connectors, i would even watch the multimeter jump when the unresponsive buttons were pushed. Is there anything to test beyond the...

Re: Korg M1 buttons not working

Update: I think I am leaning toward a faulty chip like everyone here, I tested voltage/continuity across each chip pin and at the connector while pressing the unresponsive buttons and I watched the voltage jump on the tester as the buttons were pushed, so its getting a connection from the buttons th...
