Roland Boutique JP-08 patch download concerns

If there's any of you out there that have a Roland Boutique JP-08, you might have seen on YouTube someone is producing patches, I'm wanting the 'Rio' patch album. It links to a well known auction site. Thing is I message to ask how to convert patches from computer to Module and haven't heard anythin...

Re: Digital Drumkits vs Analog Synth Drums

Hiya talking drums could you help with my question please? I'm interested in electronic drum noises such as the noises in Ultravox - Vienna (the bit that sounds like thunder) 0.10 Any syntheiszer with noise can make this sound. The "echo" might be an EG or LFO, or could even be an actual echo. Kick...

Re: Digital Drumkits vs Analog Synth Drums

Hiya talking drums could you help with my question please? I'm interested in electronic drum noises such as the noises in Ultravox - Vienna and Kelly Marie's - It feels like I'm in love. I know quite cheesy lol. I'm really interested to know if these particular sounds can be found on any available e...

Re: Prophet rev 2 Vs Virus ti2 polar keyboard (for Vox Humana sound)

I'm asking your opinions, which one do you think sounds right on the sound? Your opinion is all that matters. Which one do you like better? Why? To be honest I'm swinging to the Prophet Rev 2 as its cheaper, has loads of vintage sounds, Virus has more modern presets. Even though Gary Numan plays on...

Re: Synths and Drum Machine in 'The Chauffeur

No, the SH-2 doesn't sound like the 101, or vice versa. I think the SH2 is related to the JP4 voice, and it's a darker, thicker meatier sound than the SH-101, which is more plastic-ey. I actually think the SH2 sounds fabulous, and was never much of a fan of the (once-)budget SH-101, much beloved by...

Roland SH-2 Save a Prayer and The Chauffeur

There's two songs that have the all important sound of the SH-2 being sequenced, Durans Save a Prayer and The Chauffeur. Are there any clones of the Roland SH-2? As the nearest I may get is a Roland Boutique SH-01a which is a clone of its original. Does the SH-101 and SH-2 both have the near enough ...

Re: Synths and Drum Machine in 'The Chauffeur

Talking about Rolands SH-2, are there any clones out there? I'm getting a Roland Boutique SH-01a which of course is a clone of its original Roland.
Does Roland SH-2 have the same sounds as a SH 101?

Re: Synths and Drum Machine in 'The Chauffeur

Well while I was watching the JD-XA interview with Nick Rhodes it clearly looks like a Roland SH 2.

Re: Hardware Odyssey (Korg /Behringer) or software Odyssei? (Korg /Gforce)

As a former ARP Odyssey owner, I think the LFO retrigger is one of the coolest things about the synth. The Behringer wins since Korg screwed it up by triggering on the wrong edge of the LFO waveform. Consider the sequencer and effects as a free bonus. If you are recording with hardware, there's no ...

Re: Hardware Odyssey (Korg /Behringer) or software Odyssei? (Korg /Gforce)

You really can't go wrong with the Behringer - It's a perfect Oddy Clone and great for those Billy Curry leads - Don't forget that square wave with sync *and* ring mod is the starting point for that classic solo sound, along with a touch of analogue flanging. The Korg Mini version has a few problem...

Re: Odyssey Ultravox Vienna patch

In my opinion, getting the Behringer version of the Odyssey over the Korg version is a no-brainer. Behringer absolutely nailed the Odyssey sound. The Behringer version has better build quality and more features than the Korg (and the orginal ARP) version, and it costs less. And the Behringer versio...

Hardware Odyssey (Korg /Behringer) or software Odyssei? (Korg /Gforce)

I'm a newbie to Synths and software and it's hard to know what I want, as an example, the Hardware Odysseys look great the Behringer and Korg, then you get all the software versions, Gforce and Korg. Gforce has instant access to "Ultravox sounds" (which is what I want) But then I have to get a contr...

Did you see this old thread about synths used on The Hurting (the album this single appeared on):

Just had a look, very impresive line up of Synthesizers. I wouldn't mind which it was. 😊

Re: Tears for fears Mad World - Synths

Sequential Prophet 5 all over their stuff at that time... that would be my guess. Interesting article here, doesn't mention what the 'synthesiser' was, but does tell you the intro drum machine was a Roland CR-78. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/dec/10/how-we-made-mad-world-tears-fears Thanks...
