Re: converting an old synth main power from 110v to 220v

Done!! at last...I've received the 220v transformer and swapped it for the 115v - it works perfectly - very little involved...in fact both switches and fuses are exactly the same on both versions (115v and 220v). Now the recording area is quieter and good riddance of that ugly and heavy wall wart to...

Another Six Trak editor and librarian

Surprisingly, for such an old synth, there is plenty of support online for the Six Trak...I've just stumbled across another editor+library and looks really promising...but there is no manual - has anyone got more info about it? (the text file embedded in the Zip is very "scarce"). http://m.bareille....

Re: six trak from USA to UK - nearly a semitone lower

A Major 3rd up and a Minor 3rd down?! Doesn't make much sense...surely they meant a 2nd minor down? (aka a semitone).
Waiting for a confirmation - maybe I'll start another thread...

Re: six trak from USA to UK - nearly a semitone lower

most if not all modern synth have plentiful of options for Wheels - including setting the intervals as one wishes...but old synths like the Six Trak are limited to "no choice"; the intervals of the Pitch Wheel are set and you have to adapt to that...then, the synthesizers back in the days were conce...

Re: six trak from USA to UK - nearly a semitone lower

with long wires for the parallel connection I don't think there is much risk...then, I haven't done any parallel connection myself and quickly installed a battery holder and new battery - and dumped quickly a Sysex file (all fine). It's good to know there are rechargeable alternatives (good for the ...

Re: converting an old synth main power from 110v to 220v

That video put me off initially...but looking at the service manual of the Six Trak we can see the circuitry of the power supply is much simpler. Also, the problem with the Yamaha is a lot more complex... I've managed to gather some useful hints and confident the simple swap of transformer + fuse is...

Re: battery change - why losing data? - connect a temporary battery in parallel

This morning I've received the new battery and didn't think twice about desoldering the old and intalling instead a battery holder and new battery - I thought for a moment of experimenting with a parallel connection but I was too keen of seeing the new battery working (the battery holder already is ...

battery change - why losing data? - connect a temporary battery in parallel

I read some sorry threads of some posters losing presets and programs because of battery change from old synths (and some losing time and paniking because the Sysex dump didn't work). I'm about to change the battery of my Six Trak and wondering if anyone have tried to connect a temporary battery in ...

Re: Six Trak firmware update - why buyng an EPROM?

Ok...got the message and bought that Eprom.
My first thought was to do a firmware for a quickly upgrade like we do for many other devices (I thought maybe a dump or similar)...instead I have to wait for this Eprom from another country.

Six Trak firmware update - why buyng an EPROM?

I got hold of the Version 14 (and also 11) in BIN images formats...
Has anyone got instructions of how to flash these firmware files directly on the existing EPROM? Apparently the only way to upgrade is buying the EPROM...

Re: six trak from USA to UK - nearly a semitone lower

ok...this might be borderline genius or completely bonkers but has anyone ever tried to recharge the CR123A on the Six Trak without the need for removing it?!
It's just a Lithium battery - it should work with the right charger...

Re: six trak from USA to UK - nearly a semitone lower

I've just found out also about the troubles with changing the battery...the memory contents including programs are lost! thinking of supplying external voltage while I disconnect the battery - that way the programs aren't lost (I hope)...I've also dumped a sysex of all settings just in case (taking ...

Re: six trak from USA to UK - nearly a semitone lower

I've just checked the service manual (thanks for the link)... Interestingly, the battery voltage is only 2V...it needs to be replaced and just ordered a new one (opted for the battery holder for CR123a so batteries can be replaced without soldering/desoldering. Tuning on analogue synths is closely a...
