Re: Korg MS2000 - a classic in the making?

OUCH...regardless of comparing it to a Virus (bad idea), the main problem I have with eeverything stated in ithe original post is simply that the Prophecy SMOKES the MS in it's raw sound, and the overlayable knob structure makes it a play control genius of a synth. The MS2000 has always been it's gi...

Re: alternatives to pro tools LE w/ more than 18 inputs

I just wouldn't use pro-tools. Each to his own though. I found it just fine for recording in live on the fly...but editing and mixing was a bear in it...and then the track limitations for recording as well (I was using M-Powered). Cubase does all of that easily, and I can use it on my Macs and my PC...

Re: Just got a Oberheim OB8, got some questions!

Re: TX81z control with a standard midi controller

I think you need to enable PC control on it every time you turn it on ? What I did was read the sysex changges sent by sound diver, then programmed them into my Novation Remote 25. So, if your question was what can you use to edit them via sysex in regards to keyboards and such? The Remotes work, an...

Re: Jupiter 6 help (locked up)

this happened to my friends Jupiter 6...or at least it extremely similar. We were able to fix it by sending it a specific control change from the computer. I don't remember if the local was just turned off or what, but I remember the it was a higher cc#, right near the end of them.

Re: The "Why multiple samplers"

Different samplers = different breeds...different control, different sounding filters/envelopes/output paths etc.

If you can't tell the difference in the sound of them, all thee more reason to keep them both...so that eventually you CAN tell the difference

Re: Legalities of using the word MiniMoog

Just call it the Mini, or the iMogue or something....oh, wait, I think ANYTHINg lowercase i(insert word here) is an apple trademark. Anyway, clearly state you used moog samples in the description and you should be fine. However if it looks just like a Moog and you are actually selling it for money y...

Re: Vermona DRM

Pretty...I had a DRM-1 MkII. It was rich, thick, and had AWESOME Hi-hats, nice snare...GREAT for sound effects, but the kick drum was very lacking (nice for toms though). Overall the Jomox's I had were far more useful, I do miss it though. I wish it could have saved kits though.

Mastering albums...what should I charge?

I'm hoping there are some vets out there who could give me some advice. I'm starting up a mastering service...I've met many people in the Milwaukee area already willing to pay me for my services, and hope to integrate the services into my website as well...but to be blunt, I have no idea what to cha...

I'd just wanted to echo Stab Frenzy...a new macbook pro is plenty fast as fast, no lie! Just be sure to get the 2gb of ram right off the bat, or plan to upgrade to a matched pair asap. You WILL be wanting an external hdd for recording though...the internal benchmarks about the same speed as a USB hd...

Dyne:bolic can do cluster PCs...but I doubt it'll run on a powerbook. It's a build of gnu linux I think, filled with all free audio and video apps. Runs as a live cd, or installed OS, and can even run on a chipped xbox (yep, I can confirm that).

No clue otherwise unless you had intel-i-macs

yes yes YES, behringer's gear is cheap...but frik-frakking A, the ADA 8000 is a GODSEND for people on budgets like myself... Nyquist is a theorem not a theory, so using 44.1k on that basis is sound, but you have to allow that most cheap converters have poor reconstruction filters. And 44.1k is a bit...
