Re: Any reason I shouldn't buy a Prophet VS? Alternatives?

Well, if I'm honest, the analog filter and vector synthesis does play a role for me. I can cover standard VA synths with my soft synths and my TI. If I'm gonna get a hardware piece at this point, I would like for it to be quirky in some way. The reason I liked the SFX-6 is because it is quite unique...

Any reason I shouldn't buy a Prophet VS? Alternatives?

So, I'm considering selling my MnM SFX-6, maybe my Voyager too. I'm looking for dark, interesting pad and string sounds. I love my Virus TI for these sounds, but I guess I'm looking for some variation there, and the VS architecture and features have always intrigued me (plus, just the fact they're s...

Re: Elektron MachineDrum

The EU Forum is the best place. They come up all the time, and you can research prices there.

Re: Elektron MachineDrum

I have to think, like Trond says, the complaints have something to do with headroom and the way peeps are mixing within the MD. And having the instant gratification of old school drum machines in mind. If someone didn't spend the time I am sure they would be pissing themselves off with kicks and sn...

Re: Elektron MachineDrum

Get some nice 909 samples. Drop 'em in the MD. Done. Or just use some nice 909 samples inside your DAW (if you're using one), which is what I do. I've had a 909 before. For me, using samples makes no difference. Of course, that's a whole other debate. I'm not saying I don't see the merits in sequenc...

Re: Elektron MachineDrum

I've never understood the gripe some have about the kicks... the kicks on the MD can be massive!!! The TRX-B2 and the EFM-BD can both bring serious boom or punch, whatever you want. I have to think, like Trond says, the complaints have something to do with headroom and the way peeps are mixing withi...

Yes. That album has Machinedrum and Monomachine all over it.

The Sirius is actually a rompler, right? I could be wrong about that.

Re: How and why does the Quasimidi Sirius sound so good?

Seriously, I have played a plethora of digital synths in my day, but every time I hear a demo of this thing... I am absolutely amazed. It's thick, sounds huge, blows most VA's away. Just wow. And if you haven't... watch Jexus' You Tube demos of it. Granted he can make anything sound sick, the Siriu...

Not to hijack, but I'm currently looking for a double-tier for the studio.

Anyone using the Quik Lok Z-726?? Anything to report, good or bad?

Re: Your dream synth setup

Quite happy with what I have, but if money were no object, I'd add a couple of more quirky items:

Buchla 200e (fully loaded, obviously)
Elka Synthex (probably, but a Matrix 12 or a PPG Wave 2.2 would tempt me too)

Beat-Centric Digital Audio Workstation with Integrated Analog Synthesis Well, if that's the case, I'm definitely out on it. You would think these guys, of all people, would realize that less is more. :? I'd wait until it actually comes out before you judge it... That's why I said, " if that's the c...

Re: Do people get addicted to flipping synths?

I've learned to deal with lowballers, i always send a super pc answer like thanks for your interest etc etc. Some people just can't themselves, even on this forum. Oftentimes I'll put stuff at the highest price it can sell and people write to tell me I'm way off and that they'll buy it for this mor...

Re: Do people get addicted to flipping synths?

There is one guy here in SF that will respond to you no matter what you post in 20 minutes with a lowbal offer, so annoying. There's a couple guys in LA like that (one might be your friend!). 'Sure, I'd love to sell you my $2,000 piece of gear, that I just put up for sale fifteen minutes ago, for h...
