I am happy with MIDI, and I´m glad it´s still around.
You can connect a brandnew synth to an 80ies synth, and you can connect your 80ies synth to your computer... wonderful!
And it is reliable, which can not be said of all protocols.

According to the manual, it transmits velocity, and aftertouch, if the "aftertouch switch" is on.

let's think about sound quality for a second. there are many many digital synths that do many things an analog could not do (at least at the price point, etc) but as far as FM it seems the DX7 doesn't provide nearly enough control/tweakability an it seems to sound kind of, well, annoying. or at lea...

The Roland JX-1 was far too expensive when released.
The Yamaha CS-40M was very pricey when it was available new.
The Neuron was overpriced for sure.
The Radias is overpriced.
