I think the answer to this depends largely on your age. If you were around when synths were new, the music originally made with them would have had a different impact than if you were a kid today who liked the same stuff. That being said, I find old tones to sound nostalgic and new tones are just mo...

As karmic retribution for starting this thread, my Juno-106 decided to act up last night. Now middle C requires extra pressure to trigger. Probably a simple fix, but it will have to wait until I get motivated. That could be a while!

. PS-3100 has a bad connection between the LFO and oscillator, noisy chorus and the high C occasionally hangs. How tough do you think it will be to sort out that loose connection? My MS-20 has a similar issue, but I think I'll have to take the whole thing apart to access the problem. MS-20's don't ...

repairs? i honestly could not stomach owning a vintage anything that i wasnt willing to get my hands dirty on. the $$$ equation just doesnt make sense to me on vintage synths if youre not going to learn at least light maintenance/tuning/repairs. I hear what you're saying. I'm still learning that st...

Anyone do any simple regular maintenance stuff? How long is too long to leave a synth unused?

Right now my only problem is a loose connection somewhere between the LFO and the filters on my MS-20. I'm sure as soon as I get that sorted the next problem will spring into action.

How much of your collection works 100%?

It's just something I've been wondering about. I've only got 5 synths at the moment and it seems that there is always something going on one of them. It's not easy to find a good tech locally, and even if you do there is often a long waiting list to join before you can get the work done. This is the...

Listening to clubbedtodeath's demos reminds me why I should never get rid of my MS-20's. I don't know anything about the XS but I think you may be better off getting an MS-20 first, and then when the XS has been tried and tested by enough people and some of them start hitting the second hand market ...

I specifically sell any of my e-Bay items, "as described" because I feel that, "as is" is basically a loophole for people who don't want to take responsibility if they have omitted something in their description. If anything you are selling is so unstable that you cannot personally guarantee it to r...

I made a tune years ago where I had a Minimoog set up to self oscillate with pink noise added in for effect. The sound was simple to produce and exactly what I wanted. having since tried to re-create the sound of that patch on a number of other synths, (I sold the Mini) I've come to realize how much...

As far as the Alicia Keys tune goes, I like the song itself and don't find the "fwonk" sound or the cymbal hits to be a bad fit. The cymbals could have been brought down in the mix a little bit but hey, at least it wasn't a cowbell. And as for who's idea it was to put a jp-8 in the video, didn't som...

Okay then, I guess I better not have the crusades or the inquisition coming after my a*s. It's just not worth it. I'm already hiding out from Mohamed because I named my teddy bear after him. Apparently I've got some whippings coming to me. It ain't easy being a lowlife!

I only have one day to "test" it before I have to hand it over and wait until Christmas day to play it again. Just wondering, what is up with that? On who's behalf are you going to not use it for a month? I'm just thinking if it's there it's there, and unless you have some kind of religious/traditi...

I bought a Juno-60 in, "excellent condition" that arrived with the -battery acid all over the place- problem. The seller claimed that it worked perfectly before he sent it and told me to put in an insurance claim. When I told him there was a new battery installed where the old one had leaked, and as...
