Try making a track in a day whenever you can, don't be tempted to work on anything else and don't stop until you think it's pretty close to finished. this is pretty much the only way I finish any music that is fresh, original or good. I have to have unbroken time to get all the way into the project...

I'm just sayin... the whole "moog will never make a polysynth" bit...
don't rule it out altogether.

I was looking at the Kurzweil ribbon, and mentioned it to my hardware engineer - but so far, we haven't found any specs on the connector's pin layouts. John - Unfortunately I lost this info a couple of years ago in a move, but not more than three years ago I just called up Kurzweil, asked for an en...

hey if only what's his name with the Switched On Buck modular had showed up saying "Look what I found! I'm going to lovingly re-cap and modernise the power supply before ever setting power to a circuit!"

He'd have gotten a different response from the community, I reckon...

Good show, CZ Rider! :D

heady minimal live improv set, 130 BPM

funky beats slowly morph and evolve over 45 minutes, taking you through three or four different sonic zones in a continuous groovescape. Long attention span required. All original.

im not done bagging on combichrist yet, and somebody brought up VNV and they are also really fun to make fun of. hahaha! Yep, industrial music these days needs a kick in the 'nads. What happened to finding/defiing your own sound? Now it's like, if you don't have the right boots and goggles, and/or ...

silly me; I thought you'd be posting something about smoking heroin. :? Considering the examples you posted, if that's what you're after it sounds like you might need to start building a modular. There's never been a better time in synth history to do so. I spent several years trying to synthesize j...

All the kicks in my trance-style tracks are Voyager - very knocking and hard-hitting. The LP kicks I use more for old-skool style sounds. I've been working a lot lately with arrangements using the Voyager for kicks and leads, and the LP for bass and acid.

My appreciation for the JP6 is the way it reacts like a living thing to my input. I have had scary/beautiful moments where the envelope and filter settings were playing off of the rhythm of my key-presses and mod-wheelings so organically that it seemed to be velocity and/or pressure sensitive, or li...

cheers, I'll try this. No joy so far using the MIDI out from either a USB X-session controller or the MIDI on my (damn nice so it should work) RME Multiface audio interface. I've tried compatibility mode and it didn't help. Again, the open-source editor connects every time so it's got to be Clavia's...

HMMmmmm... I've been working on a live acid rig for a little while, and I've had my eye on this critter since the first prototype was announced (one, two NAMMs ago?). I don't have the budget for it right now but at some point I can see an XS getting along famously with my LP and x0xb0x. :D I'll stil...

$500 is a price I've seen several times for the NM1 rack. That's what I paid for mine which already has the DSP expansion board installed, so I think I got a pretty good deal. My only problem is that I *cannot* get the Clavia editor to run under win XP. Rather, it runs but it can't detect the synth,...

When I was in a shoegaze band I played a jupiter 6 for big swirly pads and an ms-10 for heartachey lead lines. The singer/lead guitarist was so full of his own ego that he refused to admit it was a shoegaze band. That's how shoegaze we were.

The LP LFO does not sync to MIDI at the moment, but this is planned for OS 2.0, probably next year. Glide works more or less the same on both the Voyager and LP (it's linear). LP does great for creamy smooth bass... just turn off the Overload parameter and set the filter and wave shapes to taste. It...
