Re: Using Peavey DPM C8p with Reason 3

A lot of those USB cable style MIDI interfaces are questionable. Download MIDI-OX and use it to see if MIDI is coming into the computer. You will not see the Peavey in the controller menu for Reason because, surprise, it's not a USB-based control surface. Reason just sees a MIDI interface on whateve...

Re: Have mini moog - on to sequensers - ?

1. Matriarch is not truly polyphonic. It's what is now called paraphonic . The difference is a true polyphonic instrument has a complete signal path per note. Paraphonic synths have an oscillator per note but do not have a full signal path per note. In the Matriarch's case, the filter and amp stages...

You don't want a modular, trust me as someone who used them for ten years.

Re: Have mini moog - on to sequensers - ?

Is there Moog equivalent? Nope, Moog has never done anything digital and never anything with song-based sequencing. Since you keep asking about straight forward user interfaces, you should just be ready to accept that digtal gear will never be as straightforward as something like a MiniMoog...it ju...

Re: Programming beats DAW vs Drum Machine?

I'll be honest...I've actually experienced shows where a guy with a laptop is cranking out beats that only someone with three legs could dance to.

Re: Programming beats DAW vs Drum Machine?

IMHO the only real reason to step sequence drums (which is how most drum machines work) is that you simply can't play the parts in real time using keys or pads. I.e. you have no natural rhythm  There's a reason so many pad controllers are out there: finger drumming. I can play a part in more ea...

Re: Yamaha MX49 MIDI

The latest Yamaha synths like the Montage and MODX also have "always on" 16-part performance implementation, but they probably do have on/off switches for parts! Keep in mind the MX is not aimed at advanced users with lots of other MIDI gear. Yes, you can't turn the parts off but you can set the vol...

Re: Photos of your set-up / studio

Where can we hear your stuff? These days, nowhere. I even deleted my SoundCloud account earlier this year. I have very little music recorded I feel is good enough to warrant others hearing it, probably less than an hour. I have hundreds of hours of sketches that ended up going nowhere, especially f...
