128MB is the max size for SM and considering how hard it is to find SM cards these days period no reason to buy one that's smaller unless it's really, really cheap.

Genie organs were made by Lowrey. They ranged from full console models (which were low-end in the Lowrey line) to portable keyboards which is what I suspect the Wandering Genie is...there were also Micro Genie, Teeny Genie, etc. models. The Genie name refers to an auto accompaniment feature (plays b...

Also - how often do the synths come before the music happens? Like with the tb303 - "build it and they will come". I wish this was the common impulse of synth engineers - to build instruments with a focus on bringing out the inherent possibiliities in design.- like what can we possibly do? not thin...

What I can't understand is why in order to save your work you must use the plug-in version...you can't save patches when running it standalone, what's with that?

I owned the rack version...traded a white panel Odyssey for it if you can believe it. WTF was I thinking :? Anyway, I really disliked the K5. As others noted, the presets were very bad, mainly because every synth had to have "meat and potatoes" presets and the K5 was lousy at most of those. I never ...

Component values in electronics drift over time. For instance, take a simple 1Kohm resistor rated at +/- 5% tolerance. When brand new it could be anywhere from 950 to 1050 ohms. After 20 years it could drift even further. Noe consider the impact of the drifting of every single component and you can ...

Well, I was warned about it but the price ($150) was too good to pass up so I bought a Red Sound EleVAta. The thing locked up very 5 minutes and had a very weak, thin sound. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Aug02/images/redsoundelevata1.gif I sold it to some guy who already had 2. I didn't bother to ...

The SH201 just has a VSTi editor controlling the SH - it isnt a USB audio connection like the Virus is capable of. I beg to differ...it may not handle audio like a VST but you can route audio in and out of the SH201 over USB, either to record the synth's output or use the filter in an effects loop.

There were a few MIA analog synth drums...Synare, Syndrum...these had no onboard sequencing though there was a separate sequencer available for the Synare.

PAiA made some drum machine kits, including the very first programmable drum machine in 1975 (before that all drum machines had presets only)

Re: All in one Midi Converter?

DCB and KADI are the deal killers. There are many boxes that will do both MIDI and Sync 24.

Only Kenton sells MIDI-DCB and MIDI-KADI boxes today as far as I know.

I don't think you can get by with less than three converters.
