Why not convert your samples to a lower bitrate on the computer? Or EQ the sample so they are less dynamic? Do the older MPCs have some special mojo?

I hate to be clique but the 303 is still my favorite synth sound. I love it when it's used in non-techno music, like electro/downtempo/funk/reggae.

Sometimes I wonder if my music would be different had I grown up with e-bay and easy access to information. A synth was a thing of unknown mystery to me when I was in highschool. I had a bass and a distortion pedal.

I started off with computer music. I like it alot, the possibilties even with simple software are endless. The real reason I started on a PC is economics. but now I'm at a point in my life were I can actually afford to go out and buy hardware, within reason :) Once I got my hands on hardware I havn'...

awesome machines! simple, fun, and sound good. fairly easy to program, and more importantly easy to perform on and very portable.
i think of them as realtime creative sketch pads.
