Isn't it just a stripped down Evolver? Not exactly. The digital stuff has been removed from the signal path, and the new system has been tweaked to accommodate that. IIRC, Dave tweaked the Osc slop parameter as well. Stands to reason that doing that kind of overhaul would change the sound somewhat,...

I just get the feeling like DS could care less about what people want(ed) the next prophet to be, which is maybe why he is releasing it so fast like this so that he doesn't have to hear all the tons people who would say we want fat VCOs like the Prophet name deserves, not digitally controlled oscil...

Much better looking without the blue. Still would have preferred vintage looking knobs.
The knobs don't look like that. That's a kludged sound design prototype unit.

Sorry Dave, I repeat!!! Prophet '08. Eight voices, all analog. Shipping next week. dB DSI What do you mean with "all analog"??? Analog envs and lfos like Sunsyn?? Thnx Dave. JZ: Sorry - didn't see this when you posted it originally. I was talking about the signal path, not the modulators. AFAIK, th...

So one of these must be the case. (1) The hardware is physically incapable of handling multitimbral operation. (2) Dave Smith is unwilling to listen to customer demand on this subject, no matter how many customers do the demanding. Which one is it? I have no idea what the reasoning was behind his d...

If enough people demanded it, I bet Dave would add multi-timbral operation via a software upgrade at some later date. You'd lose. It's not multitimbral, nor (I believe) will it ever be. If that's something you need in a single unit, this isn't the instrument for you. At the end of the day, t...

No.

I'm not sure anyone even makes a Poly AT keybed any more....can't remember the last time I heard of a synth that transmits it (although a bunch of them allegedly respond to it).

So, if these things are "shipping", then to whom? I don't recall any order form being available. What does a fella have to do to get one shipped to said fella? Well, until a few hours ago, no one knew about them...so we haven't taken any orders yet...but all authorized DSI dealers will probably car...

one question are the oscillators DCO? Yes. I thought the evo's oscillators couldn't touch the sound of the prophet 5, 600's oscillators as far as raw fatness. I will cry if the new p8 oscillators aren't fat enough sounding (like the evo's IMHO) As I mentioned - they're tweaked differently and sound...

I forgot to mention - that's for the regular edition. The special edition with the red light-up wheels, 30th anniversary Prophet plaque and Dave's signature (each unit hand signed) will be a bit more....

Huh? First I've heard of that....I've never noticed any note delay on mine.

Boy, the reply wasn't really good for my bank account. Sorry... ;) Pics? I don't have any good ones, and I believe we're waiting on the production models to take a formal one. We've all been working on hand built prototypes. I think I'm the only one who has one that has the knobs with the silver ca...

Not really. It does use the same CEM chips as the Evo stuff, but they sound different because Dave tweaked them differently, and the system isn't the same without the digital stuff in the signal path.

I think you'll be surprised. I sure was...

Is the PS built into the box this time? Nope. Is there a parallel trade-in program available, too? Not that I've heard.... That's what I wanted the PEK to be - for me. I love it, but, man the P'08 sounds perfect. Wait until you hear it. :D Both Ski and DocT have sound clips - maybe they'll be kind ...
