Dave - I could swear I have an email or post from you SOMEWHERE in which you said that D.S. HAD decided to implement this feature in the next update... If so, I don't remember it. AFAIK, Dave gets bristly any time it's mentioned. dB That's kind of weird. I mean, how can he get pissed off at people ...

Count me in on those who want to be able to edit and save Programs in Combo mode. ...and, as Droolmaster may or may not remember, I too would prefer it be that way. Remember - I worked for Alesis...all Alesis synths let you edit individual programs from Mix (Combi) mode, so that's the way I expect ...

not 100% 4 discrete Evolvers in that you cannot save individual sound/sequencer edits from combo mode. I've heard that somewhere before... ;) I also miss 3 pairs of audio ins and 6 more wheels for individual control of each voice ;) Well, geez - if you wanna nitpick...don't forget the other three p...

A PEK is, in fact, basically four discrete evolvers, which can even be used individually if you want (see Combo mode). Each voice has its own LFOs and sequencer array. 8)

Re: MEK+PER Has anyone done this?

Get this - there's even a bunch of programs in the MEK that were ported over from the PEK, but we left them in their correct polyphonic key modes (since they can't help but play mono in the MEK when it's all by itself) so that when PolyChained they'll behave correctly. 8) dB DSI dB - is this the sa...

Re: MEK+PER Has anyone done this?

Now, in practice: am I going to be jumping back-and-forth between the two units while I'm editing poly patches, or is it all seamlessly editable from the MEK ? The latter. When polychained, you pretty much can forget the PER is there. Poly-Chain is supposed to do this, but I anticipate some snags.....

f**k 'em. That's one way of looking at it, I suppose. Speaking as someone who has written presets for a few synths (my programs are in Kurzweil, Alesis and DSI instruments), I can tell you it ain't the easiest thing to do. The main idea is (as has already been mentioned) to show off the sonic capab...

I feel a bit strange when demanding for racks or a 3octave kb -version, The rack/desktop version was (IIRC) 5 spaces high...and was gorgeous. It had most of the real time controls - the main compromise we made to save space was that there was only one set of envelope, filter and osc controls - ther...

Peake - really interesting post you made there. Indeed. Really great to see Dr. Peake here! If anyone can lay claim to being the #1 expert on Andromeda, it'd easily be he... 8) It seems such a shame to have got so near to a perfect analog synth back in 2001..... and since then have been unable to p...

I think this forum is an excellent source of info. There have already been several good additional forums listed. I also like to think that the forum I run ( Keyboard magazine's forum ) is a decent place to discuss synths, of course. We definitely have a bunch of player-oriented types there as well,...

Re: PolyEvolver Keyboard

Listed a "few" questions, so I can better understand the PEK's possibilities/resources (Studio/Live), and "comfortably" wager $3K (...Ship+Tax). Will appreciate ANY help from the experienced ones... Why not call on the most experienced one? Dave@davesmithinstruments.com He'll answer your que...

db, don't you have serial #1, or was it #7? I remember you had one production unit and one early pre-production with funky hardware. My red one is beta unit #1 - one of the infamous rev 2 units. It's the one I did all the demos on at NAMM 2000, and still has the original programs written by myself,...

I loved that overlay....still do. Really classy look. I actually kinda like it better than either of the production overlays.
