Re: What would be a nice companion to my Juno 60?

Vangelis having 2 Juno 106's to the 15 plus boards on his station is very different than me with one Juno 60 in my station looking for complimentary ensemble. Lol The point of my post is that analog synthesizers blend perfectly well with FM and digital synthesizers, this supporting the suggestion t...

I don't know, maybe Vangelis knew too much . . .

Re: I have a soft spot for...

Without a doubt my Korg Poly 800, I have had two of them, and one Poly 800 II. If you respect it's limitations and like ambient sounds it's a revelation of a synth.

Another cheapo soft spot, Alesis HR 16. A great, great drum machine that you can get for peanuts.

Look at this guy the DX7 is essential and the tuba bass makes the song.

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD sequencer OS

I've finally got a copy of the OS of the sequencer for the VFX and it is awesome, sucha nice and easy to use sequencer. The unique wave synthesis, polyphony, effects and sequencer make this synth a winner.

Re: Popularity of Korg N364/Korg M1/Yamaha DX7 in Latino mus

Most likely because those synths have presets "everyone" uses in the industry. They don't buy a Korg M1 because it's an awesome synthesizer, but because it does that sound or this sound. Maybe, but The thing is that in the case of the Dx-7 for a long time they used the tuba and brass presets only, ...

Re: Popularity of Korg N364/Korg M1/Yamaha DX7 in Latino mus

Hi, I'm mexican and I really don't now why these synths are so popular among "música de banda" and all that stuff, but I think it's exactly the same as with another kind of music, like acid, why it is so important the TB-303? Because that's the "sound" of acid no? the 909 with house music, and so on...

Re: Aphex Twin going full digital in his latest release

I've been listening to this album (Cheetah) lately and it's absolutely wonderful, maybe not as Selected Ambients 85-92 or as the Richard D. James Album, but it's definitely very good. Also, it is clear to me that I should pay more attention to the synthesizer modules that nobody cares about. The Che...

Re: Additive synthesis? Korg Poly-800 & EX-800

Technically it's additive but so is detuning oscillators by octaves and fifths on any synth. The Poly 800 has no sawtooth wave and stacking up multiple squares starts to sound something like a saw but there's not really enough footages available. Even Hammond organs have nine footages (partials). A...

Re: The classic Ensoniq sound- best choice?

Over several years I have had in my arsenal a SQ-80, SQ-1, Mirage module and now a VFX-SD and all are wonderful machines. In the second part of the 80s when you talked about a workstation you were talking about Ensoniq, the M1 came almost at the end of the decade and although Emulator II and Emax co...

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD sequencer OS

Many thanks Rasputin, this weekend I'm going to look for a desktop computer with a disk drive to download the file and test it on the VFX. I understand that using a USB drive is not recommended right?

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD sequencer OS

Thank you for the answer, but Is there a way to download the OS from the web to the computer and then make a diskette? By the way, the synth arrived and it is awesome!

Ensoniq VFX SD sequencer OS

Hello eyeryone, I just bought an Ensoniq VFX SD, it is on the mail right now. The seller told me he doesn't have the OS of the sequencer, so I was wondering if anyone around here knows where I can get it and how I could install it. Thanks

Re: My new DX7 programming work

IMHO the DX9 is the most rewarding in terms of programmability. In FM synthesis the are hundreads of parameters, so when you take off from a DX7 II two operators and the velocity and aftertouch parameters you leave a "very easy" FM synth. The DX9 has a deeper sound, and I think it's a very underrat...
