Look carefully at my second and third photos. There's a ribbon cable soldered to points on each of the coil boards. No issues there.Ashe37 wrote:ok, so it has two boards for the KB and they have not been bridged. I'm wondering if you've just run into the infamous VFX keyboard issue... I'd ask Rhino.

Re: Ensoniq SD1 issue
Sigh. I reassembled the keyboard and put it back into the SD1. No change, the original problem still exists. At least I didn't screw anything else up and the keys and coil boards are clean again....

Re: Ensoniq SD1 issue
OK, I finally had the opportunity this afternoon to set up a table and take the SD1's keybed out for a look. Following instructions I found in several online sources it was relatively simple to extract the keybed and remove keys. Let's see what I found. Here's the top of the coil boards under the ke...

Re: Ensoniq SD1 issue
That's going to be my first task in the repair process as soon as I can clear a good chunk of a day to work on it.Ashe37 wrote:probably need to take the keyboard apart and clean it. also possible that one of the metal panels on the keys has popped off.

Ensoniq SD1 issue
Good evening, VSE! I'm having a problem with my trusty Ensoniq SD1. When I play individual sounds in sound mode, they play with aftertouch or pressure (in Ensoniq-speak) full on. The effect is most commonly volume, vibrato or filtering. Here's where things get weird. If I press the footswitch down (...

The problem you are stating could be the result of a bad volume pot.zmd wrote:Pro5, the transistor output issue you mentioned...is that what causes low output and high frequency noise on the main outs and headphone outs?

Re: Mood model D reissue
Okay, somebody get me a release date for this. I have to know how long before I can own one. And this had better not be a boutique limited-edition thing. This is a limited run during Moogfest. An email from Moog said "the pilot-production units built during the festival will only be available for p...

Re: Roland JV-1080
XP60 patches are compatible with the JV1080 so they will play just fine. I'm not completely familiar with the transfer process but some form of Utility Mode would do it.

Re: Roland JV-1080
You should be able to do that. Look in the Utility Mode menu. Check your manuals for the proper procedure.

Re: Guess that synth: Genesis edition
I was lucky enough to be at Madison Square Garden in 78 when Peter Gabriel came out for the encore ("I Know What I Like"). Of course, half of the crowd didn't even know who it was until the end when Phil introduced him! I was at that show, too. We figured it out but PG was singing on the same mic a...

Mellotron 400S
ARP 2600 synthesizer
Moog Polymoog synthesizer
Yamaha CP70 grand piano
