Re: Casio cz500 midi question

Pretty sure the 5000 is Bitimbral at best; no multi-timbral mode.3 different presets at the same time is beyond this keyboard...

Re: What to do with a vintage synth studio (Not a music guy)

I figured I should give this thread an update. The OP contacted me and we managed to arrange a get together. The studio is located roughly 45 miles from philadelphia; this is important to know for any buyers in that the OP will most likely not have each individual piece on hand to answer questions. ...

Re: Are there any "extinct" synthesizers?

Items like the Ionic performer fall into this category as well; hand made with design decisions that on't last the test of time

Re: WANTED: Kawai k4r rack ear screws/info

I'll double check the paperwork but I think you're going to have to bring it to Lowes. Anyone with a K4r would have to take theirs out of the rack and take the screws to Lowes or someplace like it to find out the screws size and thread count. I'll edit this post if they put the information in the va...

Re: Collecting, eBay and Synth Economics

Almost started this thread myself and I have to admit I'm surprised. I didn't think there were many collectors out there. Hobbiests who "devolved" was where I thought most people would fall. I started out playing piano and bought my first synth: a Jup 8 in the early 80s.I was 17, working with no bil...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

Stab: the amount of "collectors" as you describe them are so small as to be insignificant in the overall synth economy unless your talking about items of such rarity that their small numbers might have an impact. Even then, the average musician wouldn't have had access to them regardless. As for nee...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

Oh, and the rack ear situation is that if you buy a piece of gear and it doesn't have the rack ears it can be a b***h replacing them. ( Currently still need a set of Korg ex8000 ears). Some eBay sellers have not been as accurate as they could've been ....

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

I have the 7,10,20,30,50,70,80 &100. The 30 &50 get the least amount of use followed by the 100. Everything else gets used often. There's a bit of sonic overlap between the 7,30,50,&80 but not anymore so than other analogs of the era. There's enough differences/limitations that they're not useless. ...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

The 10 & 100 are cheap enough that you could buy,try and resell them if they're not your cup of tea. I picked up both for under $70. Bought the 10 twice as I needed a set of Roland rack ears and it was cheaper and less hassle just buying an extra module. Later gave it away to a friend. I'd also like...

Re: EMS Synthi vs. Ionic Performer

The odds of that are pretty small. I own an Ionic and have played a VCS3. The sound is quite similar. Build quality on the EMS is much higher. The 3 Ionics I've seen have all required extensive repair; there's very few people who can work on them. Mine is currently with John Leimsider; he's an amazi...
