^th0mas, read that, please? You own an ES-1 or 808? Ever tried very hard or used any of this forum's excelletn advice in trying to make the es-1 sound like an 808? EQ'd much? Been willing to admit that it's possible? Removed your bias against electribes resulting from your ea-1 hate and tried to lo...

NO electribe will do anything resembling an 808. Take a look in the thread about the kick drum on the es-1. Personally I have an MPC1k and a DR110. Between the two I've got analog drums pretty much covered. Apparently you can mod the DR-110 circuitry to have pots for all sorts of tonal parameters (B...

Having played an ea-1 for about a year and a half, I can effectively say I hate it. - it's 'two-mono-parts' is bollocks. You get one part sounding good, start adding a second one and it's like it split it's OSC's and now you have two weak parts instead of your previously okay part. - it sounded like...

Ensure you don't get one with too few tracks. Think about what you will expand to, maybe I misspoke when I mentioned 8 tracks. You're going to want to simultaneously have hooked up: - your gear - 2x inputs each I'm assuming - audio return from your computer - it makes multitrack recording a breeze b...

Get an analog audio mixer with ~8 or more channels, somewhat decent eq, and if possible >2 assignable outs (also referred to as busses). IMHO that was what I considered to be the best gear purchase. It was a harder purchase to make on a tight budget since it doesn't make any noise itself, but it is ...

MPC2000 woes

Just though I'd share my last week or two. I've been jamming with some guys, we've got a battle of the bands lined up for early February that should be pretty fun. I play synth and instead of a drummer we decided to do it electronically so we can continue to jam in their apartment. I bought a used M...
