Re: Space Echo Tape Loops warning!

<alert - bumping ancient thread> I just bought an RE-201 and have been told I should change the tape. Anyone use the tapes from GRS Systems? They're on ebay and like all the others they claim they're the best tapes ever. 380437113683 Other question is, whats the difference between a 4 meter and a 1 ...

Re: Using MPC in a live situation

Each MIDI file will be imported as a multi-track program with sequencer data and no (or the default) program selected. You have to then go in and assign the programs to each track by hand, or configure the MIDI outs per hand, etc. Just make sure you make your MIDI notes match your drum program's MID...

Re: Using MPC in a live situation

On a PA, with synths, a bassist, and singer/guitarist it was unbelievable how much of a difference it was when I switched to a analog bass drum from an MFB from samples. Night and day punch.

Re: Using MPC in a live situation

Saw him live a year+ ago and it blew my mind. He had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand, we were all losing it

Re: Using MPC in a live situation

I did exactly this for a year+ with an MPC1000. I polished my "setup" for quite some time, eventually it was: I made each song a single "pattern" on the MPC that would be 200+ bars. I would write the track in Reason and export the MIDI file to the MPC. I set up the MIDI notes on my MPC sets so that ...

Re: Nice "gritty" sampler for EBM/industrial

Having owned an ES-1, SP-202, and SP-303, I'd definitely suggest the SP-303. It's less of a toy than the 202 and the FX are worth keeping it alone. I own an octatrack and have the 303 still as an FX source. Very usable FX.

Re: Jp8000 vs blofeld

Have you used it? I agree it doesn't beat knob-per-function but its far the best tiny-interface synth I've used ever.

Re: Jp8000 vs blofeld

I'd disagree. The JP is extremely powerful, amazing to edit, and has a very easy to use interface. It also sounds freaking amazing, what with the supersaw. Blofeld is strange and unique, definitely awesome, but not as powerful. Also, it sounds like a softsynth in a box. Albeit a good softsynth, but...

DJPad: DJ app now for Android tablets!

Hey guys. I just released my DJ app for Android tablets. I'm just one guy but have devoted my last two months to developing this app and will continue to add features (and phone support up next). Right now you can mix and play 2 MP3 files, adjust pitch, 3 band EQ, split the output to mono cue and mo...

With all due respect, and I'm not saying you don't have a point (but I'm not going to check)

This forum should have a "SW vs HW debate" forum where things like this can reside.

Re: Need a "swiss army knife" in my rig

Between the terrible sounds and terrible sequencing the MC-303 is approaching useless. If you find yourself about to buy one give your head a smack and get a korg EM-1.

This is from our own forum-poster kuroichi but his octatrack sale on ebay is pretty INTERESTING as it has an hour left and is at only 520 pounds and he's said theres no reserve 180798380525 Funny how un-interesting something can become in 1 hour  And here I thought you'd have been so excited ...

Re: Replacement DX-7 9.426Mhz crystal - source?

For closure, in case someone else needs the part.. I contacted Yamaha customer service through their website and on the next business day received a response. They found me the part number (# QU005200) and will ship me it for $15 total. Very happy! The manufacturer should always be the first place ...

Re: Replacement DX-7 9.426Mhz crystal - source?

And for further closure, it turns out the crystal wasn't the problem.. the residue on the board was actually resin used to hold the crystal in place.

My problem was actually the TC40h004 quad inverter gate that is part of the oscillator circuit. Amazingly after replacing that the synth works!
