Re: My Polysix effects crackle noise

the effects section is normally a bit noisy, but should not crackle. this suggests a problem. im not sure if its the case here, but battery leakage can cause all kinds of problems with these. we have seen many other techs do a half assed job removing battery acid, so even if a p6 was supposedly serv...

Re: Yamaha CS-80 (x2) from Zappa's estate

"Totally agree with you there. It's likely these instruments will need many thousands of dollars worth of servicing, if not restoration." this is why we are now taking on outside restoration work. if we buy, restore and sell, the value of the restoration work alone can approach and in some cases exc...

Re: The Korg MS-20 vs. The Yamaha CS-15

it was only recently that i started liking the cs15 and now i totally love it. we bought one for what we thought was a good price not too long ago, but after all the work it required to get it fully functional, we definitely paid too much for it. it takes a while to realize how cool it is, and now i...

Re: 80's polysynths that have aged well/AX80

roland are generally more reliable than 106s. 106 problems are often due to a design flaw (resin coating on the 80017 chips).

Re: Neuron vs. Fizmo vs. K5000 vs. Morpheus vs. FS1R

i love all of them but they're each a pain in the a55 to program. for some reason, im thinking the fizmo. maybe its the knobs (actually, this one isn't such a pain to program) and the quirky sounds. otherwise, if you can deal with the amount of time it takes to program, the fs1r would probably be my...

Re: Help choosing a first synth(mainly Cz101 or microkorg)

personally, i prefer the sound of the cz101, but the programming is tedious.
another suggestion would be software and a controller like one of the novation remote series so you'd have knobs per parameter. or the microkorg hooked up to a computer for editing.

great stuff, thanks for posting. we just fully overhauled two of these - one for our studio and the other to sell. these synths are seriously underrated.
