Re: So i've got to sell one of my keyboards, which one?

Sell the DX7; you'll get more so it will be worth the trouble in shipping/listing and you can always get another.

Plus, if the push buttons work on your DW-8000, you don't want to take your chances on finding another one.

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

You buy an instrument so you can induce envy in others? Do you really have that little going on in your life that it's come to this?
You say this as if there are other reasons to buy possessions.

Re: THE MAXON "MX-2 MARINER" SYNTHESIZER

Man, there is nothing out there about this synth. This is a total shot-in-the-dark theory...but it looks like it was made around 1979-1980 when Arp was getting all lawsuit happy. And this has similar cosmetic features (orange/white) and also the "growl" feature is on the Arp Pro/DGX. So I'm thinking...

Re: I've just got Yamaha Electone D85

If you're a Who fan the Yamaha E70 might be the one to get, as it's responsible for the "sequencer" part on "Eminence Front." Pete Townshend always had access to all the classic dedicated synths like ARP modulars and the like...yet all his famous synth tracks turned out to be obscure preset organs....

I like it. It will look like s**t in a few years if it's spray paint, though.

There's two Octave Kittens and a nice Cat on right now.

Re: OSC beating - Andromeda VCO vs DCO

Oh, I was just kidding. I'm betting the A6 can do ten zillion things the Korg can't and that would still be a ridiculous understatement.

Re: OSC beating - Andromeda VCO vs DCO

The Korg DW/EX series just really excel at syncing, so it's really not fair to compare it to something like the poor Andromeda. :D

Re: Wonky TR808 din sync

Here's a resource site.

http://www.smd-records.com/Websites/TR-808/

Try looking at as many YouTube videos on people programming the 808 as you can; you can learn a lot about it that way.

Re: one line synth reviews

Out of what I have/had once had... Alpha Juno 2 : Wicked filter sweep; wish you didn't have an interface like the wristwatch I had in 3rd grade circa '83. Arp Solina : You had one preset that was usable in a keyboard range of about 11 notes...that still can't be touched. Nice particle board. Arp Pro...

Re: Synthesizing the word "die"

This is the sound of cross modulation - two OSC's crossing streams. From the SOS article: Another trick is to modulate a slightly resonant filter with an audio oscillator. With the oscillator set to 2' settings, generating a sine (or triangle) wave, and the merest hint of modulation, you can create ...

Re: Why does synths "die"?

I would say there's literally hundreds of reasons why; components just drying up, parts frying, getting knocked around...

"All synths have it coming, kid", as maybe Clint Eastwood would say if he collected keyboards.
