Re: Best synth ever!

Just in a "Superman vs. Your Dad" kind of vein:

1) Andromeda is pretty complete. And awesome.

2) Yamaha GX-1.

Mine was in reference to a Boston record, but I do remember that in News Of The World. Queen are definitely the exception and are free to do/say whatever they want. :)

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say about synths

I always thought it was dumb when rock bands in the 70's and 80's would put big disclaimers in their LP's:

"No Synthesizers Were Used."

Re: Technical discussion of DSI synths and their DCO pop

It's such a great product by a great company, I don't think anyone wants to believe it...but that last clip was beyond noticeable.

If the SK is Malcolm, then the GX-1 would be Kubrick himself.

I'm curious how you joined a day in the future.

A solid, dedicated engine that never (rarely) crashes and portability.

Re: Improve the sound of your Casio CZ

Wow, didn't think you'd have to calibrate a digital synth. Can most digital synths be calibrated?

My DW-8000 has a certain wheeze on some notes...but I don't know if that's inherent and untreatable.

You might try searching for tremolo devices; trem pedals, recording apps...

Re: repair success stories

I replaced a trim pot. I was pretty proud because I did it with a $5 soldering gun (didn't burn the board) and a replacement part I just happened to have from a box of electronic junk I bought for some reason three years ago.
