Silver Thread
My new tune "Silver Thread": http://soundcloud.com/carbon111/silver-thread It's all Korg Oasys, Waldorf Q and Ensoniq Fizmo...the drums are Protools default softie "Boom". Past the hour when little girls should dream The road is silent, the hills are steep Your wings are heavy with dust and sleep Yo...

Re: The Initiation
Thanks Zamise!
I'll bring the vox up just a tad but I'll leave the final EQ to my mastering engineer.

Re: The Initiation
Okay, I've revisited the mix a bit now, improving vocal definition and instrument separation.

Re: The Initiation
Thanks! It came together pretty well.
I only finished it in the wee hours of this morning and wanted to sign off on the mix before my ears went totally wrong.
...I'll probably tweak it jut a little more but wanted to get a feel for people's impressions as it stands.

Complete remix: "Breathing Machinery"
Breathing Machinery has never been "quite right" in my mind, so I've revisited it. I've done a complete reworking, including removing the piano that was paralleling the vocal's melody and obscuring the vocal. I've also tightened up on some of the pad sounds by lowering the reverb return on them. I ...

Re: Arturia Origin Keyboard - Wow!
Carbon111 - while you were actually there and heard the Origin, I find it a bit odd that it did not sound good at all. I should probably clarify - It didn't sound good at all compared to the many analog synths I have. For that matter, it didn't have a particularly good "VA sound" either, it was ver...

Re: Recommend rack tube pre's
Hey Carbon - Nice to make your electronic acquaintance. We've crossed paths before online (I enjoy your site and blog) and I've attended the PacNW synth meetings the last two years, however was only able to stay breifly both times. :welcome: Hey! Thanks Man. Next time you're at the PNW Synth Meet s...

Re: Waldorf Q+, almost like the Loch Ness Monster?
For me the analog filters didn't bring enough additional flexibility to the table to justify the additional cost. This demo is all Q except for drums and some spoken word: http://www.carbon111.com/music/the_face_of_strangeness.mp3 Besides the slightly cold, standard filter emulations available on th...

Hey! I just love taking "sexy" gear photos.

Re: Recommend rack tube pre's
Or the next level up (and highly recommended by myself) is the Universal Audio 610. It's a 'lil more spensive at about $600 per channel, but sounds freakin fab. +1 The Universal Audio gear is fantastic "bang for the buck". I picked up their LA-610 channel strip and absolutely love it! I use it all ...
