Re: Arturia Origin Keyboard - Wow!

I spent time with the Origin last week and can honestly say the components don't particularly sound like the synths they're trying to emulate. This was not a subtle distinction BTW. Not only that, I didn't really think it sounded good at all , even considering it just as a run-of-the-mill VA. Maybe ...

Re: Winter NAMM 2010

Hey all,

I'll be with John Bowen Synth Design in Hall B - the booth number is 5912, not far from Moog Music and Dave Smith Instruments.

Because of a technical writing class, I won't get to Anaheim until late Friday night. :(

...If any of you are at NAMM, come by and say HI! :D

Re: Rough mix: "Breathing Machinery"

I took some constructive advice to heart and stripped out a number of elements and just slowly bring them in through the course of the song. I also surgically EQed a lot of bass out of the vocals, as well as many more tweaks. Here's the current state: http://carbon111.com/music/breathing_machinery.m...

Re: Rough mix: "Breathing Machinery"

At the request of my wife, I brought the vocal and wave sequenced patch up in the mix. While I was at it, I also EQed one of the rhythm beds to make it more obvious. New version is at the same link above. At this point, I'm thinking of having the new album be all originals. The cover tunes I've been...

Rough mix: "Breathing Machinery"

Here's a very rough mix of my newest, called "Breathing Machinery": http://carbon111.com/music/breathing_machinery.mp3 Korg Oasys does Piano and Wave Sequencing, Weird Pads are NI's Absynth and, except for some clickety bits from Digidesign's "Boom", all the Drum Sounds and Rhythm Beds were done in ...

Re: prophet 5 common problems

Besides the power supply, IIRC, The DAC and MUX have a tendency to go wrong on the P5. Worth checking at least.

They're hard to find replacements for too. :(

Vintage Planet carries some hard to find parts...

New song: "No Time"

The new album, "Stealing The Sun", is coming along nicely. I remixed "Luna": http://carbon111.com/music/luna.mp3 ...But the most recently finished song is a short one called "No Time": http://carbon111.com/music/no_time.mp3 Craft a song of Death and Sunshine Tell a story: Love and Moonshine Time So ...

Re: Luna

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. :D

Things are moving along nicely for the new CD. I've got a few titles for the album rattling around in my head but "Screaming at the Sun" is the standout so far. ;)

Re: Luna

Thanks for the further comments, guys! All the criticism is welcome and will be helpful when I do the final mix for the upcoming album. Sorry I haven't been around much. I've unsubbed from all my mailing lists and most online forums but will still check in periodically on VSE and KSS. The next album...

I'm with y'all. I don't have the space, the money or the inclination to have gear for the sake of having it. If I'm not using it then away it goes.
My philosophy as well. :thumbright:

Excellent info as always, Micke! :thumbright:

What about the RSF Kobol Expander? Mark Vail mentioned in his Vintage Synth book that it was used in the movie.
