I love the layout of mine, especially the per-section shift functions..... I'm glad you liked your Darkstar, but I'm entitled to my own opinion, I didn't pay the "blowout" price for mine (remember, they listed at $500). I had to live with that awful POS for quite some time - my personal experience ...

Hands down, for me it was the Redsound Darkstar...they used the existing chassis from an FX device and tried to make the control assignments fit that - hideous ergonomics...it didn't sound that hot either ;)

I'm not suprised, that old thing is bulky and unweildly.

The BC3 in contrast is a tiny thing that sort of looks like a little headset mic.

For what it is, the R3 is a powerful little keyboard!

Volume and cutoff work rather nicely. :)

...'course thats on a VL-1 :D - I did, however, get some good results making expressive patches on the MicrowaveXT, I'll put them on the site at some point:

i've been looking for one of these for about 10 years.....still zero luck...came close once but it was horrible abused and left in a basemant that had flooded several times over. That probably wasn't a Syntar. At least not in a basement in France...theres probably only a couple unaccounted for. Geo...

Re: Whats the deal with the L.P.

I dont want to piss of anybody but what is the thing with the Little Phatty. Ive only tried it in a store but didnt like the interface or price...sounds good though Ive played a lot of moogs: memory-mini-micro-multi-source and think most of them are more desirable. And some even less expensive...wh...

Re: The Syntar - A unique synth ahead of its time.

That thing looks heavy. Can you have it strapped on without killing yourself? :) The wood thingys to the right, can you play bass chords with those? Anyhow, coolstuff. Its actually not that heavy. Those wood thingys are all spring loaded performance controls...like having 9 mod wheels  These...

The Syntar - A unique synth ahead of its time.

I just finished a website dedicated to The Syntar. Some cool photos and some interesting behind-the-scenes info awaits: http://www.carbon111.com/syntar.html Years ahead of its time in terms of live player control, the Performance Music Systems Syntar is very much a "hidden gem". Still unparalleled i...
