Re: Preloaded Perfect Presets

Of course the D-50 and DX7 - and the Fairlight CMI certainly sold itself with its library of famous samples.

I do recall hearing TONS of presets from the MicroKorg during the Electroclash period - seemed like everyone had one and nobody bothered programming it :)

Re: Ensoniq esq 1 lovings festival

There's a reason I have three SQ-80 in my studio. They're simply the easiest, most powerful and surprisingly affordable digi-log synths out there. Sure, there are a little bit of issues, but I cannot tell you how many COMPLETE tracks I made using this synth - by it self. Lots of Yazoo and Depeche Mo...

Re: Did ANY vintage synth have X-mod,Sync, and Ringmod?

I believe the Crumar Spirit meets all the qualifications. Osc sync? Check. Ring mod? check. Cross modulation of osc A by osc B? Check. Even has filter FM via oscillator.

Would love to own one someday :)

Re: What is this drone synth?

It will not create any type of droning - just tight, percussive clattering as it is a TR-808 clone. No idea why this was called a "drone machine" as it's the furthest thing from it.

Re: AX-60 keybed

The Panasonic and Pratt-Read keyboard assemblies are quite different. The former is much simpler - simple one-piece keys with rubber domed strips for contacts above another circuit board with the other contacts. Super easy to dismantle, super easy to clean and yes, they feel a bit mushy sometimes. T...

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60

Just to add a little more from my experience... I don't mind the keys on mine - sure they're not great, but they do the job, albeit in a rather flat and lifeless way. They're the simple rubber dome strips over contacts - easy to dismantle and clean. Doing that improved mine dramatically in terms of ...

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60

Have all three (P600, P5 and Juno-60) - can't add much more to the already obvious differences, but I feel that the P600 could have been a bit smoother if SCI had bothered to add a real mixer, not just a balance knob, for the oscillators. If one was able to individually mix the oscillators, a la P5,...

Re: DX7 manufacture date by serial number?

Does it really matter when your DX was made? Why? Does it really bug you that this person wants to know? Geez... Some people are collectors, some people are just interested in the info. Wish I could help you. I'll have to investigoogle. Geez yourself. I was only asking why - sensitive much? It's no...

VL-1? I don't think so - that's a monophonic little toy.

Re: Which Analog Polys feature S&H/Random LFO setting

Do either of the Crumar BITs have S&H or random? Do either of the Kawai SXs have them? Nope to all. I've pretty much listed the only ones that do - barring the DSI synths. Any others have been addressed. Again - why not look into getting a Moog CP-251 and use it with your Prophet-600 and Trilogy fi...
