Re: Which $1K analog mono to complement Pro-One?

I don't have a Pro One, but definitely I like my Yamaha CS15 a lot.

The two multimode filters make it a really versatile synths and I like the sound a lot too.

In Europe I know they sell for less than 1000$, so you might even be able to spare some money to invest later on other equipment ;)

Re: Tom Oberheim to release new Four Voice SEM in May 2011

Indeed it looks really nice. Just a shame there is no keyboard version, as it would take too much space in my studio to come without a keyboard... It would be great if he makes an 8 voice polyphonic version with a single interface. Not sure if the OB-X circuitry is the same as the SEM, but something...

Re: Current prices, Moog Prodigy - Ob Matrix 6

That would be a really bad trade for you indeed... At least here in Europe I'd say you should probably be able to get a Prodigy in a trade for your Supernova II, since it is the keyboard model. I'd say the Prodigy is worth somewhere around 700 euros. The Matrix 6 should be equivalent to your Yamaha ...

Re: What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?

The most expensive synth I bought was my Korg Triton Pro, for around 2500 euros, new, back in 2003.

Second hand, I haven't spend more than 600 euros, on my Roland MKS80 rev.5, and don't intend to spend that much more than that on used equipment.

Re: Poly evolver vs. Prophet VS

I think I had the same question a while ago... From my researches then, I think the general opinion is that the VS has a better sound, but you have obviously less modulation capabilities. To me, both seem to have some "problems". The Prophet VS doesn't seem to be too reliable and the Solaris will su...

Re: Alesis Fusion vs Yamaha Motif vs other workstation

(supposedly weak) FM and PM From my experiments with those modes, I don't find any of them to be weak at all... FM is fully modular, which means you can do lots of things you could only dream of with the DX7. You can modulate the pitch of an operator with an envelope, which can give really nice res...

Re: $129 8-bit digital synth module

On a side note, when is the next round of Shrutis going to be available? Still annoyed I didn't buy when they were actually (briefly) available. According to Olivier, he intends to make Shruthis available every month, from what he told me. I have the original one (still unassembled) and would defin...

Re: $129 8-bit digital synth module

BTW, I also got a Shruthi-1 kit incoming, and that is h**l of a lot more synthesizer, for not much more money. You've said it all in my opinion... It definitely seems a nice synth, but for people in Europe, who'll likely have to pay extra taxes for it, not sure if it's worth comparing with the Shru...

Re: Akai's s900 or s2000

i didn't go for the s2000 because of the display, it's so small! i would go for the s900 or maybe a mpc500. same small display but at least in the s900 you have sound character. the big advantage of the mpc500 is that it can communicate without any frills with modern computer. with the s900 you wil...

It's cool, just a shame the price is a bit too high...

The first version was much cheaper when it was sold in stores, wasn't it?

Re: Korg Zero 8 to record? Where are the best prices in Euro

you need to set it as the interface in garagebands preferences as well as the system preferences Thanks a lot for the help :) That was indeed the problem (I was using my FA-101 for so long, that didn't remember I needed to do that...). Fortunately I sorted that out in the same day. The touchscreen ...

"s**t, I wish I had a 16 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer with built-in effects and a ribbon controller; then this s**t would be REALLY happening!" That sounds just like an advertisement to an Alesis Andromeda :P But back on topic... I quite like Soft Machine too. The earliest of their works I h...

Re: What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?

No doubt it was the Nord Modular G2X. Probably only a Kyma system or some other tool in which you can program the architecture of your synth can beat it. Still, on the G2X (and the original Nord Modular) you have a huge amount of modules you can patch as you want as long as you have enough DSP Power...
