Re: The obsession for the Analog

I don't understand, If it's old it's vintage. Want to refer to a specific period? how about a year of manufacture? most people will get the idea surely once they have a year....or general date of production. Familiar with language much? Humans like associating terms with their numerical systems; it...

Re: The obsession for the Analog

Likewise ive little intrest in digital synths, im always thinking if advances are that good in newer things why are analogues not dead and buried?, if analogues were say a mere 15 years max old i might understand , but they are not and as one example a white 2800 Arp Odyssey which i own 3 of are 40...

True story: One of the nicer looking girls that works with me said synthesizers and understanding the physics of sound creation was sexy.

Re: The obsession for the Analog

For those who already know this however, I hope that they might realize that when I suggest that an electribe or Kaosspad is analogue, they realize that I mean in it's immediacy and approach. Vintage analogue synths are renowned for their immediacy. Misappropriated words for the sake of crippled si...

Re: V-synths and their add-on cards/modes?

They're rare as hen's teeth. I saw one for around 600+ on ebay, actual bids, the same I paid for my actual V Synth.

Re: The Stigma of Synth: My Secret Life with Depeche Mode

I get it, you're rebellious, counter-culture type of guy. Complex, aloof, yet interesting. Nice. unlike the pansy from the article. Ouch. So he spends his younger years hiding his interests to avoid ridicule and now looks back and is bold enough to reveal his true feelings and we make fun of him no...

Re: The Stigma of Synth: My Secret Life with Depeche Mode

The article perfectly captured the sense of going to high school in America in the 80s to me. I recall not wanting to express my taste in music to my guitar rock homophobe classmates then either. Because you didn't relate to it doesn't mean it was a "pointless" article... Being afraid somebody migh...

Re: The Stigma of Synth: My Secret Life with Depeche Mode

when I think of synth musicians, they're usually the more sensitive, thoughtful and less macho types who aren't afraid to show their feelings and seem different. abrasive alpha-male rockstars usually play guitar. probably for every 10 successful guitarist rockstars who are macho j**k, there is only...

Re: The Stigma of Synth: My Secret Life with Depeche Mode

interesting article about this guy and Depeche Mode http://gawker.com/5951419/the-stigma-of-synth-my-secret-life-with-depeche-mode "Looking back on some of rock's most iconic stories, albums and images, it's clear that, like a shrimp, I had been absorbing the toxins that pollute America's cultural ...

Re: korg r3, yamaha dx7, roland r8 help

I'm assuming you have all the adapters/power cables. You'll likely want to plug them into a surge protector. You'll need a mixer with enough inputs to accommodate your instruments. Look at something cheap like a used Yamaha or a new Behringer or Nady for the time being. You'll need several 1/4" TS c...

Too true. I'm sort of a PM nut, so the AP synthesis drew me in, but the extremely limited amount of compatible waveforms made it seem very pointless.

Re: V-synths and their add-on cards/modes?

Is the AP synthesis available only to exclusive waveforms still? I know this was the case, but not sure if an OS update ever expanded it's possibilities.
