The andromeda does and doesn't have more possibilities than the Xpander/Matrix 12. Not taking into account the 15? filter types you get, the Xpander lets you use all 6 slots to modulate everything that is modulatable. Granted you have a limit of something like 20 modulations per patch, but it's nice...

Any Akai MPC smokes most external sequencers and drum machines, unless you are after x0x style sequencers. Pretty kick a*s drum machines as well, and can be had rather cheaply depending on the model you choose. The 2000 / 2000 xl's are monsters at the prices they have fallen to.

Remember that for the filter overdrive to work you need to enable EXT IN on the filters you want overdriven. It has an effect with this switched off, but not the full overdrive effect.

I love my A6.

Has anyone personally ruined an encoder by turning it fast? I've had my xpander for years and have never babied the encoders (I have six spare encoders just in case, so I have no reason to baby them) and I've never had a problem, and most people who I know who have had problems weren't the ones who ...

I meant it is a defensive tactic on the part of the seller, not on your part. You post a price, and show previous sales around that price as justification for your price. I find it interesting too. I don;t own a ton of synths and am not bitter about it either, I'm glad the topic came up. Thanks for ...

I don't know about this 'synth buying community' business. There is no synth buying community, buying is competative, that's why high proces get to people. Convince everybody in your community to not pay high prices and anyone outside your community will reap the benefits. And posting a high waterma...

I've heard that some supplies will only give the right voltage at the expected load, I've seen this on some wall warts, where if it is 1 amp and driving something with much less load it gives more voltage. Depends on the wart I guess, I don't know too much about it, but some gear might be more sensi...

Guitar Hero controller with a Midi Output to your FR 777? UI is so important, but it depends a lot on the user's needs. The Best UI's to me are simple and direct so as to appeal and facilitate the needs of a wide spectrum of users. Some things are designed to be used one way, but the interface is su...

OJ, Nobody is arguing that paraphonic is equal or comparable, but you are using the term polyphony in a synthesizer specific way, and it is not a synthesizer specific term, thats where the problem lies, since all the synths from duo on up are technically polyphonic, but when synthesists talk of poly...

I say piano's are Paraphonic!!! they all go through one filter (the cabinet, lid open or closed) and control of the release (sustain pedal / Mute pedal) is global as well.   I think this is a problem of trying to apply terms that are synthesizer specific globally. polyphony is simp...

the x0xb0x and 303 don't sound the same. Very close, but in the stereo eamples on the ladyada site and the forums there were several people who could flawlessly tell the difference. Some couldn't, but it was undeniable that there was a difference. I might compare mine with a friend's 303 sometime so...

Yes, the A6 digital effects even have this in the whole wet dry mix screen IIRC. even the analog distortion is a send effect.
