Demo - Aalto vs. Modular G2

Played around with my Manta, my DIY controller, the G2 och Aalto (Madrona Labs), everything except drums from these two synths. No keyboard was used! More info at soundcloud.

Re: $129 8-bit digital synth module

It is arriving here in about 2 weeks... But truth to be told, I dunno about a few things. Mainly why the code is Assembler, it is not easily hackable.

BTW, I also got a Shruthi-1 kit incoming, and that is h**l of a lot more synthesizer, for not much more money.

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?

The reason I avoid laptop for live performance is the design of them hides what you're doing from the audience (screen blocks line of sight). Also because there is too much visual information on the screen for my liking, leading me to stare into it often - staring into a screen is to me like lookin...

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?

I have 4 different live setups depending on what I'll be playing. Experimental and ambient: 1. Netbook running MaxMSP and 2 controllers monome128 and synderphonics manta. 2. Nord Modular G2 with custom built controller and Akai MPC500 + Fender Jaguar and a Shure SM58. Electronic dance stuff and IDM:...

Snyderphonics Manta & NM G2 - First Session

In a bit of a controller frenzy right now... Got a Manta the other day. Here is my first session with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPIl2yqNDRA First thing I did with my new Snyderphonics Manta. Using a standard midi-patch in MAX/MSP to control the Nord Modular G2. The sound is just a pad with ...

Re: Unusual vocoder tricks

My favorite use is to create "wet-noise" for ambient stuff and processing. You basically put noise in both the carrier and the modulator input, variable noise-colour makes it even better. The effect you get is a watery noise that sometimes sounds like rain.

Re: Random thoughts about synths

Those synths cost as much as a new car back then dude... Point taken, but I can't be the only one to notice that two synths in particular have shot up in value remarkably. The Jupiter-8 and the Synths A/AKS, which have as much as doubled in value over the last two to three years, there's something ...

That won't help as the conversion will only give one parameter.

Re: hardware midinote to cc

Okay, forgot how limited the G1 is... (And I got a MicroModular around...) The cheapest soultion for you might be DIY. Arduinio and some midi-stuff. Most can be found here: http://store.curiousinventor.com/all-kits.html Not that much programming - just set up an array of notenumbers and correspondin...

Re: hardware midinote to cc

Just patch note-value to the input of the parameter you want to control, use scalers as potamento modules to sort out stepping and range. Why go via CCs?

Re: First Analog Synth : Prophet 600?

'Warm ambient sounds' aren't something that needs fast envelopes IMO. I always prefer synths that ain't limited in that way. I would say that the ion is offering him lots more for his money. The p600 i played last week was living up to every bad opinion i've read about it. Sure, for warm analog slo...

The p600 has crap-slow envelopes. I would buy something else if i were you.
