Re: Button Malfunction on MS2000

i had an ms2000 for 7 years and never had any problems with it other than a loose output jack that i had to resolder. seems odd that your buttons stopped altogether. was anything ever spilled on it? a good cleaning might be in order though, and opening it up should be easy enough. just remove the sc...

Re: Setting up an APT studio

are you planning to record live instruments in the room or just use it for mixing/monitoring synths? if you're micing up instruments i'd say skip the rug and dampen the ceiling instead, especially if you have hardwood floors. if not, a rug/carpet might be ok. if your doing vocals in the room (and no...

Re: Do Audio Demos Affect Your Purchases?

an intuitive user interface is more important to me than sound, and i can usually get interesting sounds out of almost any synth. most demos actually steer me away from a given piece of gear rather than make me want it. there are very few things i would buy without hands on interaction first.

Re: Pedal Heads? Troniks Chondritic Sound Forum

i know the guy who owns/runs chondritic sound, and quite a few people who make harsh noise via pedals, feedback loops, diy electronics and whatnot. that stuff gets boring pretty fast. chains of pedals are cool, and some of the techniques are certainly interesting, but i just can't take most of it se...

Re: 100 Ways to Make Vintage Sounds on a Computer

I was playing with this idea last night on the Nord 2x, inspired by the hate thread. I started with a pretty bland and lifeless brassy lead, and ended with something much richer. Do folks have any suggestions for reverbs and delays? I find that running delays through phasers go a long way toward go...

Re: Yamaha DX-7

Maybe look at and see if you can get a DX-200 instead. http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/dx200.jpg Definatly what I'd go with before I ever get another DX-7 aka The Doorstop again. i bought one of these after my dx7 got stolen - big disappointment. you can only access 4 of the 6 operators from the...

Re: Korg ER1 Midi Question

there is no way to turn off note data on the er1 (at least not if you still want it to play it's own sounds  ).

if you have the two syncing up already (microkorg clock set to external), then set the microkorg to a different midi channel from the er1 and it should work the way you want.

Re: 100 Ways to Make Vintage Sounds on a Computer

record with amps and microphones instead of line inputs. it doesn't get any more "analog" than a bunch of air moving around.

also - record your music, burn a master cd, and throw it in the closet for ten years. when you dig it out and listen, it will sound more "vintage". \:D/

Re: The Jomox T-Res is a really nice delay...

what are you using it on?

i'd like to get one eventually for my nord lead, seems like the combination of analog filter and digital delay would be a nice fit.

me too, but good luck finding one since they are out of production. afaik there are no sequencers currently on the market that support hz/v scaling. maybe just get a midi to cv converter?

synth --> behringer mixer (which WILL be replaced by something better in the near future) --> delta 1010 unless i'm using amps in which case it's - synth --> amp --> mic --> presonus blue tube --> delta 1010. everything gets mixed in the box using sonar. everything works pretty well (except for my s...
