Re: Roland SH-2 vs Roland SH 101 vs SCI Pro-One

most has been said about the flexibility and build quality. i'd like to offer a quick rather-generalizing look at their respective sound characters. this is something that would, together with first two characteristics, interest me the most, when making a choice.. SH101 - simple, thin, cutting, 90s ...

Re: What would you sell to help fund andromeda, if u were me?

dunno i could easily do a whole album with your modular, eventide, mpc samples/seq/drum, vermona, 101, multiman and andromeda.. that would be one helluva setup. for straight digital, complex stuff, to complement this if needed, i'd run it from a PC, for example Absynth or Chameleon, and then process...

Re: A better polysynth than MKS80...?

Perhaps an Elka Synthex or Yamaha CS70M. Both super rare, but your comments made me think of them. Some say the Andromeda is great for that, once you defeat the tuning routines, but I always thought it still sounded too harsh. Also check out Clusterchord's Prophet 5 Rev 2 demos . Might be just the ...

Re: A better polysynth than MKS80...?

I'd like to trade the MKS/MPG and possibly the ESQ and get something really juicy. Needs to be MIDI.. I like Oberheims but they are so BIG physically and brutal to get repaired it seems... Generally the MKS is too brassy, too polite and in-tune, I actually like to let it drift out of tune a bit for...

Re: What would you sell to help fund andromeda, if u were me?

keep modular, sh101, multiman strings, Yamaha CS, Vermona DRM and, depending on your workflow MPC1000 if you use it as your center sequencing and sampling unit. however if you are on a computer, dunno.. andromeda is analog thru and thru, and sounds like it. not "digital analog". if i ever find a dig...

Re: Most affordable vintage synth

Let's just say, until I can afford an Andy, I wanted to get a vintage synth off of ebay. What would your recommendations be? Here are the conditions: 1) under $200 2) at least 8 voice polyphony 3) self-oscillating filter 4) knobs to twiddle live 5) velocity and aftertouch sensitive 6) decent built-...

Re: Jupiter 8 VS MKS 80

I think this has been discussed before... but ... let's refresh it. I found an MKS80... I like the Jupiter 8 sound quite a lot but I can afford here now... nor in future. Mks 80 (v.4) is near to affordable and editing it using an editor is not a problem. So someone says is a Jupiter 6... someone el...

Re: Psychedelic hardsynth

v-synth can only dream of Neuron's textures. not on the same level imo. Neuron was a truly unique design. one of my favorite digitals of all time. i wished so many times they'd re-instate the company and continue developent of new products based on this technology, alas.. not a likely scenario. anyw...

Re: Moog modular, truly distinct?

there are a few modular companies today that are making moogmodular clones as exact as possible (if thats possible?) like mos lab from france, etc not a chance in h**l. its only a imitation. and not a very good one. i feel there are better imitations, like motm, oakley, for late 70s moog sound, or ...

Re: PROMARS kicks a*s. This is why:

Hmm... my desire to sell my JP-4 is vanishing. haha I think I might want to swap it for a Promars though!!! My quest for ONE pre 80's Roland has to end at some point. heheheh you cannot have only one. i would at least choose two.. ultimately Jupiter4, and System100 (101+102 that is).. both have not...

Re: Studio Electronics ATC-Xi demos forthcoming

.... Well. I remember a while back there were quite a few people interested in hearing ATC-X(i) demos. hehehe, yeah i was one of those people. got to play with a regular ATC-X for a while, in the meantime. it was beautiful and.. slow. so, obviously i wann hear how punchy can ATC-Xi get in a typical...

Re: Much reason to get a Little Phatty if you've got Minimoog?

if you already have a Voyger, id much recommend you combine it with one of the vintage moogs, for a different character, vibe and behaviour. if the original minimoog model d is overkill, go for a prodigy, source or multimoog. they sound beautiful in their own right, and very different from both LP a...

Re: DCO obsession - what next?

Doesn't the Alpha Juno/MKS 50 have 3 DCOs with analog VCA/VCF? nope. its a single DCO with multiple wave selection possible. it would "count" as 3 DCOs only if you could individually tune, modulate pitch and mix each of these three waves. its a single circuit. your best best to get more than 2 DCOs...
