Reaktor: So many of the designed synths don't try and emulate any other synth. Imaginative designers come up with wild synths that would be cost prohibitive to create in the hardware world.

Make sure you use good lighting. So many synth videos are poorly lit. Use a tripod. The shaky handheld stuff is pretty amateur. Also use a mike when talking. Don't rely on the camera's mike.

Changing the Voyager's filter poles really can make a difference. It's not that buried in the manual or menu, but it is a feature easy to forget when making a patch.

I have both. You're right in that each has a unique but Moogy sound. The Voyager has a much smoother sound, and it has the capability of sending CV outs to the LP. One thing the the LP has over the Voyager are the pots. There's no jump when you turn a pot after a program change. The new OS allows a ...

The LP's knobs do have a very different feel than those of a Voyager, but I wouldn't characterize them as flimzy. They just don't have the friction that's on synths like a Voyager. The LP's pots have more capabilites, and to me that is a good trade off.

I think I could use the voyager as a controller. The VX351 and CP251 could be used to fine tune the CV to scale.

I suppose one would need a CV/midi converter for a keyboard or an analogue sequencer. I like the fact that the system is set up in a 19" rack format. The racks modules certainly aren't outrageous in price.

Synthetic Music Systems -- anyone try them out?

I was curious about these. They sure seem reasonable in price. Does anyone on this board have experience with the Mars and/or Planet 7?

It works great as a standalone. I also use it with Chainer, a VST host, and get several instances and FX going at the same time. It works well with Sonar 4 as well.

It is clunky. I use my Q rack as a clock source for Live to sync to. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to work. However, Live syncs up pretty well. I haven't used live as the clock source.
