Re: Korg Polyphonic Ensemble P

A Solina is boring as h**l. Indeed, the possibilities are quite limited...that's correct. But the sound is still heavenly good. For strings like in "Man Child / Thrust" from Herbie Hancock, or in almost every AIR albums, you really need a Solina. I also have two other stringers (RS-505 Paraphonic f...

Re: MATRIX 1000 vs Sonicprojects OP-X

I have an Oberheim OB-X and an Oberheim Matrix 1000. You can guess wich one i prefer ? I'm loving them both...The only thing i can say is : the Matrix 1000 is by far more reliable than the OB-X. But in therm of sounds, both are really good sounding machine. But both are sounding differently. The OB-...

Re: AIR - Missing the Light synths

Yep...

One Wurlitzer 200a, with a Moog Source on top, a Solina String Ensemble with the Korg MS-20 on top for Jean-Benoît Dunckel.

And a Roland VP-550 an the Moog Source for Nicolas Godin.

Very cool version of Missing The Light ;)

Re: Are you an expert on a specific synthesizer?

Moog Prodigy. I can dial the sound on stage even when there is no stage light, completely dark. It's so easy to use...But the possibilities are also quite limited. ;)

But i will never be an expert on my TG-77

Re: New Roland and/or Korg synths using REAL analog filters?

I consider this Monotron as a pocket size MS-10 filter...with the audio In, it's possible to "filter" the sound for many audio sources. And for only 60 $, it's absolutely ok ;)

Decided to make these Templates I made for The Novation ReMOTE 37SL for the Matrix 1000 available to the public! Don't forget to let me know here how you got on with them. Download Also, just for the record, the Matrix 6R does not have as speedy midi implementation as the Matrix 1000 and is therefo...

Re: New Nord synthesizer?

I'm waiting for a Nord Stage 2, with built-in Nord C2 organ technology, Nord Modular for the Synth section, and more Flash Memory (1 GB would be good) to store all the new samples...

So, a new Nord Synthesizer...

Re: Korg MS-10 for playing melodies & funky bass?

The MS-10 can make wonderfull leads and bass. It's very easy to make quite expressive leads sounds, from soft to ultra agressiv. And for basses, take the PWM and add a compressor and you have a huge bass sound ! But for funky bass, the envelopes are not so snappy like on a Roland SH or a Moog (for e...

Re: KRAUTROCK Synths !!!!! atmospheres

Mmmmh, Krautrock...definitly a kind of music that i like a lot ! I'm mostly using the Roland SH-2 or the Moog Prodigy for sequencing sounds. SH-2 is also used for blips, winds, etc... For Strings/Pads, the Eminent Solina String Ensemble with a MoogerFooger Phaser, or the Roland RS-505 (also with the...

Re: Polyphonic Synths with Glide/Portamento

It seems to me that Beaver & Krause's track Spaced from "In A Wild Sanctuary" (album recorded in 1969) was the source for the THX "deep sound" logo. http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/3672/beaverkrausemay1970.jpg Bernie Krause and Paul Beaver at Parasound studios, spring 1970. Here's an audio excer...

Re: Roland SH-2 vs Roland SH 101 vs SCI Pro-One

When you consider these 3 things : maintenance, sound flexibility and availability I would say that the Pro One wins. SH-2 are quite rare and less flexible in therm of sound than a Pro One, but they are very reliable and sounds really good. SH-101, cool synth, very available, reliable, but the sound...

Re: Funky Worm - Synthesizer Model?

Yes...most of the Funk Scene of the 70's had Minimoog and ARP Odissey. Another "signature" sound of the Ohio Player is the Solina String Ensemble ;)
