Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

Here is a small video from a vintage TVS, only with a reverb. This is true vintage sound.

The new SEM is not bad at all...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

PS i dont buy the "aging compoentns" argument thats constantly being called upon. i had several vintage boards completely refurbished with new capacitors, psu, whatnot... they still sound unmistakeably vintage, compared to any "new analog" i happened to have arround. magic is in the way they are bu...

Re: Korg Trident -- How the h**l do you...

Yes...and you know, it's the same for the Prophet V, Oberheim OB-X, OB-Xa, OB-8. Matrix 12, Jupiter 8, Memorymoog, etc... There are not so many vintage analog polyphonic synthesizer with touch sensitivity, or polyphonic aftertouch. But i can understand you very good. Once you tried a Yamaha CS-80, C...

Re: New Vintage : Korg SV-1

I also heard some demos. The grand pianos and electric pianos are very very good sounding ! IMHO, one of the best available with the PC-3 from Kurzweil. But organs, tron-strings, tron-choirs, Solina Emulation, etc...don't have the same quality. The look is original, and it's great that they put 2 XL...

Re: String Synth Battle Royale: Yamaha SK vs Roland RS vs ???

When the Modulation button is off on the Solina and the chorus is off on the ARP Omni, the basic sound is also different. More raw on the Omni, more fine and "organic" on the Solina. Notice that you have also a difference between an Eminent 310 U and an Eminent Solina String Ensemble...A Yamaha D-85...

Re: Poll: Vintage String Synth Battle Royale

The groups i've made are coherent i think, don't the RS-505 and VP-330 sound the same? No...the String Section in the RS-505 and the VP-330 are not the same. Wiss or aeon will certainly confirm that. Also Solina's are different. There is a sound difference between a Eminent 310 Unique (or Grand The...

Re: String Synth Battle Royale: Yamaha SK vs Roland RS vs ???

I also had both machines, ARP Omni II and Eminent Solina String Ensemble. The ARP Omni has a very good sounding synth filter, very musical. But the string section doesn't sound like a Solina. While the Omni string section is more harsh and fat sounding, the Solina is fine, aerial, atmospheric soundi...

Re: String Synth Battle Royale: Yamaha SK vs Roland RS vs ???

For the size and weight, it's not bad...

But i would prefer a Crumar Multiman in therm of sound. And you can also find them for a cheap price !

Re: Blue Snow Flakes (AIR / Zero7 style)

Hi Villi !

You're absolutely right. It's only a basic 707 beat in the background, like a metronom. Not more...I'm also not happy with the drums.

I'm waiting for EZ Drummer to "pimp" the track. I will also add some vocoder parts. But thanks for listening

Blue Snow Flakes (AIR / Zero7 style)

A little track, that i recorded yesterday afternoon.

You will easily recognize which Instruments where used for this track...only one soft instrument where used, MiniGrand for the upright piano sound, the rest is all vintage hardware.

Blue Snow Flakes Demo

Enjoy it !

New Mackie Consoles - ProTools M-Powered compatible

Some news... Until now, it was only possible to have ProTools on a Digidesign hardware or on M-Audio hardware with the M-Version of ProTools LE. Something new since yesterday, but not official...wait some days until it's really announced on the respective websites. Mackie ProTools compatible console...

Re: Just won a Yamaha EX5r on ebay

I have both 90's Yamaha...the TG77 and the EX-5. TG77 is a monster for FM sounds, and EX-5 is really the step between the Motif Workstation and the SY Serie. A real synthesizer with amazing possibilities. But like said before, it contains some bugs, and the processor is underpowered for the possibil...
