Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Wow, I thought the DX1 wasn't on the market until the following year.

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

These are from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack, even though they weren't used in the film. Can any of you ascertain just what kind of gear was used for these songs? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kk4lzrazdw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ismde_eNaQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJoqohttLek http:...

Re: New DSI instrument!

Any news about the Prophet 12? Dave Smith seemed real enthusiastic during the clips I've seen from NAMM.

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Much appreciated, Micke.

I doubt the Prophet or CS-80 made it onto the original film soundtrack; neither of them existed yet in '76.

Well Micke, I don't want it to die out either. That's one reason why I posted just above with a query about the Rocky soundtrack.

Re: Gear Trading Thread

Roland Jx-10 with full-sized anvil case, including a sustain pedal and a copy of the manual. in good working condition, only damaged cosmetically (minor blemishes along chassis and missing slider cap from the top-middle editor). Trade for an Epiphone Les Paul, especially an amber or vintage-sunburst...

Re: The great thread of electronic/synthesizer soundtracks

Here's something which has boggled my mind for lots of years. It's a clip from the original Rocky . at 0:50, as Sly Stallone (as Rocky) is stretching out, there is a synth sound issuing from the music on his record player (I'm assuming played by Bill Conti). It sounds like an ARP, but the pitch rang...

Re: What got you into synths?

It was wired into my DNA.

Seriously, I was two years old when the album TOTO IV was issued. The synthesizer section in the opening track, "Rosana" is what ultimately "got me into synthesizers," when I was old enough to understand what they were.

Re: Absynth Questions

I do appreciate the swift response, meatball. I really asked the question on behalf of the friend who shared Absynth with me. He let go of his Motif, and I was wondering if there was another way he could use samples of analog beasts (and specific sounds from the Korg 05rw module).

Absynth Questions

An old friend of mine recently shared his Absynth IV with me, and I've got a couple of specific questions and little patience with PDF manuals (for now).

1) Is Absynth capable of uploading external samples?
2) Of the drum sounds on board, can they be assembled into a single drum kit?

Re: Gear Trading Thread

Another item I have for sale or trade is my Roland JX-10 Super JX. Had it for nine years and made good use of it, but am getting no use out of it lately. In good working condition; only defects are cosmetic, scratches on the chassis and missing slider cap for upper-middle editor (not shown in the pi...

The tricky part is assembling them in a kit using my slim Cubase software. If you have any suggestions, you could PM me.

If I were a TV producer during the 80s, I'd commission you to compose the theme.

That's why I bought an electronic drum set. I only wish I could make it sound more like a Linn machine.

Re: what are some good affordable rack mounts?

If I were in the market, I'd pick a Roland MKS70 or an Oberheim Matrix-1000 for analog.
